Seasonal Letting Ideas

There are literally thousands of events across Britain which could be useful to those looking to rent out a room. We’ve picked a few of the big ones to give you an idea but you should also do your own research, as there will be plenty more to choose from.

Hay Festival

The Hay Festival is an annual event (lasting for around two weeks) in a tiny market town in the Brecon Beacons National Park, featuring the best in books, food, drink, comedy, music, art, argument and literature. Top of the list of FAQ’s on their website is ‘How Do I Find a Bed’ so, if you live in the area you might want to consider renting a room out for the duration of the festival.

Edinburgh Festival, Scotland

Running over a three week period in summer, Edinburgh Festival presents a rich programme of classical music, theatre, opera and dance. In addition there’s the Fringe Festival running at the same time. With over 28,000 performances spread across 261 venues at the Fringe alone, thousands of people will visit Edinburgh over the course of the festivals. Many of these will travel from abroad and all of them will need somewhere to stay.

Wimbledon Championships, London

The world’s best-loved tennis tournament brings close to 500,000 visitors to SW19 every year to see the sport’s stars compete. You won’t get Roger Federer wanting to rent your spare room for the duration but chances are you’ll get someone.

Glyndebourne Opera Season, East Sussex

Every year sees thousands of people descend on Glyndebourne in East Sussex for one of the premiere events in the UK’s social calendar. Lots of well-off people come here to see and be seen and don’t constitute much of a market for letting out your spare room but the season also attracts genuine opera lovers who save their money for tickets and are on the lookout for reasonably-priced accommodation in the surrounding area.
