Psychodynamic counsellor looking for a London home / possible Homeshare

Hi, I’m Ben, a 42-year-old gay man and psychodynamic counsellor relocating back to London from Cheltenham, where I’m currently building my private counselling practice.

I’m looking for a stable, welcoming home where I could potentially stay for a year or two while I establish myself in London and grow my practice, with the longer-term aim of moving into my own studio or self-contained flat.

Ideally, I’d love a room with a private bathroom, although I’m also very open to an annex, studio or other self-contained arrangement if available.

I’m easy-going, tidy and respectful of shared spaces. I’m something of a homebody and enjoy making a house feel comfortable and homely. Outside work I enjoy keeping fit, listening to podcasts, music, culture and the occasional conversation about current affairs.

My working week is fairly structured but varied. I currently see counselling clients Monday–Wednesday and work hospital care shifts on other days, including occasional nights, so I’m often out working and appreciate having a peaceful home to return to.

I’m particularly interested in an LGBT+ affirmative household, or somewhere where people are open-minded and mutual respect is important.

Open to live-in care / Homeshare arrangements

I’m also a qualified and experienced carer, with hospital healthcare experience, and am fully DBS checked. I’d therefore be interested in a genuine Homeshare or live-in arrangement where my accommodation could be combined with companionship and some practical care/support.

For example, I could potentially suit an older gay man who would appreciate having a friendly, reliable person around the house, companionship and some help with day-to-day tasks, rather than relying entirely on rotating agency carers. My counselling background also means I’m comfortable around people and value patience, dignity, boundaries and good communication.

I’m open to discussing different arrangements depending on the circumstances, including a more conventional room rental or a mutually beneficial live-in arrangement.

I’ll likely continue doing some care work alongside counselling while my private practice develops.
