Description
Hi everyone, my name is Riccardo, I’m 36, Italian, with settled status and a British citizenship application currently in progress.
I’ve been living and working in the UK for 6 years: I spent the first 3 years in Cambridge, and the last 3 in London, in Leyton.
I work as a designer on a permanent contract. My job is based in West London, but I often work from home, mainly on the computer, so it’s important for me to have space for a desk in my room and a good internet connection.
I enjoy cooking, gardening and playing sports (running, tennis, gym, five-a-side football, cycling and rugby). I’m tidy and respectful of shared spaces, and I’d like to live with flatmates who share the same approach.
Why?
My landlord has decided to use his flat differently and has given me notice. I need to move out by mid-October, but if necessary I could also arrange to move into a new place a bit earlier.
Where?
Ideally I’d like to stay in East London: Leyton, Leytonstone, Stratford, Walthamstow, Wood Green or Wanstead, as I’ve built friendships in the area and I also play rugby in Wanstead.
On top of that, I often fly to Turin from Stansted, so being well connected to the airport is convenient. I usually prefer buses (like the National Express from Stratford), since they run more regularly than trains, and unfortunately flights to Turin are often either very early in the morning or late at night.
That said, I’m open to considering other well-connected areas too.
What?
In general, I’d prefer to share with just one other person, although my dream would be a whole house with a garden, where I’d be happy to live with more flatmates: especially if there are multiple bathrooms and I only need to share one with another person.
So roughly, I’m considering:
a room in a 2-bedroom flat or maisonette,
a room in a 4-bedroom house with at least 2 bathrooms,
a 1-bedroom flat on my own,
or a 2-bedroom flat rented by myself with the possibility of subletting to a second tenant.
Contract type
I prefer direct contracts with landlords: in the past I’ve always had better experiences this way. In one case, the landlord even lowered my rent because I kept the property in very good condition, taking care of the garden for example.
Extra perk
I’m quite handy around the house and I like fixing and improving the spaces I live in. I’d bring along some indoor and outdoor plants (if appreciated) and… a proper espresso machine that makes cappuccinos better than most cafés (see photo 😉).
Thanks a lot for your attention and for any help!
