Description
*please read the whole ad before contacting me, thank you. Please Do Not contact me if you're an agency, offering an HMO, or a tenant subletting a room (happy to be a tenant added to the tenancy though)
Hi! I’m a 43 year old professional female (working in the charity sector) looking to live with a live in landlady/landlord (owner of the property) who is looking for a long term lodger OR a tenant looking for another tenant to move in and be added onto the tenancy. I work 4 days a week (9-5) from home as an energy adviser/caseworker at a fuel poverty charity. I’m independent, quiet, kind, friendly, considerate, thoughtful, clean and tidy, and will treat your/the home with care and look after it.
I've been living very happily with my previous live in landlady for 2.5 years in Norbury/Streatham and it's worked really well for us, however as she is taking over the care of her elderly mother she is in need of her room again hence why I'm looking for a new home. I'm currently renting a temporary room while I look for something that is the right fit.
What I’m looking for:
I only want to live with one other person only (so no couples or children staying over sometimes etc). I'm looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful- a safe, quiet space to recharge. It makes sense that I live with someone who is also a naturally quiet person and is friendly and kind and also likes their own space and privacy. Somewhere where we are respectful, thoughtful, and considerate towards each other- a house with a mature outlook where we live in good harmony with each other. Also ideally somewhere where both our socialising is mostly outside the house to keep that cosy peaceful feeling.
An extra large room is a must as I work from home in my room (I'm happy to forgo access to a living room for this which is what I've been doing in Norbury). What this means is space to put my large desk and lovely antique chairs which I would really like to keep. **Another option is if that’s not possible somewhere with a bit of storage space like an attic or a garage to keep them in if I can’t fit them all in my room.
Rent: will pay up to £950 per calendar month including all bills.
Ideally the location would be in South West London or South East London but I am flexible around location as the right place is more important (it does have to have some amenities around such as a large supermarket within half an hour walk, and decent transport links, as I don't have a car- so probably up to zone 5 or 6 depending on how easy it is to live without a car). I've listed the areas I'm mostly interested in above to give you an idea but again I’m flexible.
My interests/rhythm:
I’m interested in lots of different things- for example travel, nature, hiking, film, tv series, food, art, craft, interiors, antiques, museums, culture, yoga, walking. Weekday evenings I tend to spend at home relaxing in my room reading.
NB I understand many landlords/homeowners are nervous or not keen on lodgers working from home for many reasons. What I would say is if this is you but everything else about me sounds like the kind of person you would like to live with in your home, please know I am a very quiet, self contained and thoughtful person who works only from their bedroom so no shared spaces would be taken over and no heating would be used during the day (I have had confirmation from my previous landlady that since I changed to a work from home job our energy bills didn’t rise and she would be happy to confirm this- we managed the heating in the winter months by putting it on in the morning for a bit and then in the evening for a bit and keeping it off during the day.
I’m able to provide references/character references from landlords and my employer, and anything else that might be helpful.
Thank you for reading! :)
