Description

Greetings,

WHO I AM:
My name is James Skinner and I am a motivational-speaker, a life-coach and the author of a self-help book entitled 'Success: what it actually is, and the full-proof way to achieve it'.

Now that's interesting, isn't it? :-)

Two years ago I decided to utterly change my life from merely floating along doing what I thought was expected of me, and being prey to distraction and dalliance, to really taking control and using my intellect efficiently and effectively to produce the most phenomenal life possible.

Sounds like a good idea, doesn't it?

Well it was, and as I sat and deduced my route forward I hit upon the idea of transmuting my life-experience, philosophical outlook and brilliance into written form so as to: -
a) further crystallise my own ideas on the subject of the attainment of success for my own benefit;
b) help others who were also ready to 'get a grip' of themselves and succeed in life;
and
c) earn an income from doing what I love, which is writing and public speaking.

I immediately set about writing the aforementioned book and aside from a few illustrations it is now complete.

Its manuscript is around 350 pages long in A4 format so Heaven-knows how big it will be when published yet it is concise, humorous, witty, readable, fun and enlightening.

WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR, AND WHY:
I want to live in London (or near-enough to it to benefit from the opportunities it offers), in very high-quality surroundings that will bring me into contact with the most interesting, charming, intelligent, decent persons this country has to offer, whilst I publish and promote my book.

The method I intend to employ to promote my book is to give after-dinner speeches on it to as many different groups/organisations (for example, Lions/Rotary clubs /Women's Institutes) as humanly possible so as to spread the word about it.

I believe that merely sitting-back and plopping a book 'onto the Internet' and waiting for people to swarm to it would be the fool's way to failure and I know that the right way to do anything is to do it 'in-person' if at all possible. Furthermore, a grand opportunity exists nowadays to exploit the fact that because most people do things 'online' it is now truly seen as extraordinary to do things 'person-to-person'.

Ultimately in life every significant decision, whether upon what to have for breakfast, or upon what foreign policy a government will pursue, is made in reality, inside the individual or person-to-person, and not in 'non-reality' on the Internet.

People yearn nowadays for authenticity and they reject 'fast-buck', paper-thin, attention-seeking, digital commercialism.

Nowadays the authentic is more highly-prized than ever and it is that situation that I will exploit.

This is not to say that I will not use the Internet as well to augment my strategy but that my practical, and rather traditional, means of promotion, when combined with contemporary digital means, will be uniquely powerful when compared with the lacklustre, uninspiring and uncompetitive attempts of other less pragmatic, ambitious, confident and forward-thinking individuals.

Anyway, that is enough about my plans.

ABOUT ME AS A PERSON:
A little about me then...:

I am 44 years old but people usually guess that I am a lot younger – even in my late twenties occasionally... truly... I get it all the time... lucky me, eh! :-)

My profile picture shows me with a beard, and that makes me look older but I only feel, I guess, around 27 but with life-experience and maturity matching my years... But 44???... it doesn't seem possible! I socialise with people of all ages anyway so age really doesn't matter to me that much – neither mine nor anybody else's.

I am pretty well travelled and worldly, and I lived overseas in South Africa for seven years in my thirties, which experience I found deeply impactive, informative and eye-opening...

I have been married twice but I am single now and bear no grudges against my former spouses; our relationships were good and we learned from each other.

As a person, I am intelligent and funny, and have a good sense of humour.

I am responsible and considerate, and enjoy the same from people I live/share with.

Despite being gregarious and sociable I am not a 'party' person; I am of sober habits and I like fitness and the outdoors.

My main/favourite hobby is surfing but I enjoy any outdoor pursuit/activity.

I appreciate peace and quiet at home.

I live in Newquay in Cornwall currently but I want move to London for more social opportunities and, as I have mentioned, so that I can begin promoting and marketing my book in earnest!

And that's my brief, personal introduction! I hope you liked it and I thank you for reading it.

THE DECISION:
If, having read the preceding details, you would like to choose me to rent your room then I must advise that currently I can afford a whopping £750pcm.

If the price you have in mind for the room you seek to let exceeds that amount then you will either have to decline my proposal, in the knowledge that I am sincerely grateful for your having taken the time out of your busy schedule to read it...

or,

if your desire to assist me on my quest outweighs any prevailing predilection for the mundane then you might consider accepting my proposal on the grounds that you will be hosting an interesting, driven fellow during the initial phase of his journey to fulfilling his life's ambitions.

The choice, of course, is unequivocally-yours and naturally I hope your sense of fun, adventure and optimism lead you to opt for the latter but in any case, I once again thank you for your time so far – and at least you've had an interesting read whilst enjoying a cup of your favourite brand of coffee, eh?!

Please feel free to call me or text me, otherwise I keenly await your communication via the Spareroom messaging service.

Oh, and I can provide character references from people I have previously rented rooms from if requested.

Cheers and all the very best,

James Alexander Skinner :-)
