Description
Hi. I’m Brandon (he/him).
I’m a gay man in my mid 40s working full-time in the NHS.
I’m looking for an unfurnished room in a serene, tidy, even magical home to settle into, preferably for good long while. Ideally, housemates will be queer but allies welcome.
Here’s a few highlights about living with me - warts and all. I’ve include a bit more detail further down if you’re interested…
* I work full-time in the NHS on a permanent contract. (I work from home maybe 4 days a year, if that).
* I’m a non-smoker, occasional social drinker, no drug use.
* I don’t have pets and don’t desire pets of my own. I do appreciate four-legged or winged friends, however as long as they aren’t noisy.
* Veggie-leaning omnivore and love cooking. If the household is veggie, then I’m happy to not have meat, but i must have dairy and eggs! I meal prep every week so appreciate time and space to do this.
* In my free time, I enjoy music (record collector & electronic music making that’s always at a respectful volume), reading books and manga, reading tarot, watching sumo and anime, witchy things and houseplants/gardening. I also enjoy long walks and am a fairweather cyclist.
* I work in healthcare and previously worked in professional kitchens. I keep shared spaces tidy, cleaning as I go, leaving spaces and appliances ready for others to use. I pitch in with housework and although I’m no DIY king, I’m generally pretty handy and not afraid to get dirty with deep cleaning, gardening jobs or repairs.
* I’m an introvert so, after a day of working with the public in the community, I like peaceful quiet time at home. Neurospicy and have an aversion to small talk. Things I do enjoy doing with housemates include proper chats about ideas, art or culture, doing quizzes or puzzles together, and playing video, card or tabletop games. It’s also nice to go for a stroll or body-double for house chores.
* I’ll always be polite but please be aware that, until I’ve had coffee and breakfast in the morning, I tend to surliness.
* At the same time, I’m kind, open minded, generous - I’ll always ask if anyone else wants coffee or tea, if anyone needs anything from the shops, am generally happy to share things. Acts of service are one of my languages.
* I’m sensitive to noise. I don’t mind how others live or what you do - I just don’t want to be able to hear it in my room. I spent 5 years working night shifts and like to think I’m equally considerate and quiet.
* I don’t watch TV and don’t have any streaming subscriptions.
What I’m Looking For:
- **An unfurnished room. This is a must. I won’t respond to ads or messages where the room is furnished.
- A quiet, peaceful environment where I can read, make music, and recharge.
- A landlord who plays by the rules - I strongly believe in tenants’ rights and legal protections for everyone involved.
- Clean, tidy communal areas with some space for my books and plants; I'd like equal space amongst others' to make it feel like my home, too. This is particularly important to me where housemates work from home.
- Secure space for my bicycle.
- A bright environment with good natural light in the room. I don’t want to live somewhere where the curtains are always drawn.
I’m in a long-distance, monogamous relationship, and my partner visits for 10–14 days once or twice a year. It’s important that I live somewhere I can comfortably host him.
Leaving my current home because the landlord’s put the rent up by 10% just because.
If you think we could be a good match, then I'd love to hear from you!
Please work one of the following words into your message: "bookshelf," "presentation," or "lush."
No agents or multi-property landlords, please - I will auto-respond and delete.
Thanks for reading!
Sincerely,
Brandon
