Looking for part-time let in or near Durham

Hi there!

I am starting a position at Durham university, but will continue to be based primarily in London as my partner works there. I am therefore looking for a room to rent 2-4 nights a week during term time, probably once or twice a month. It can be very small -- a bed and access to a shower and kitchen is all I need.

I would be interested in
• splitting the cost of a room with someone who also only needs the room part of the week/month
• staying as a lodger with a live-in landlord who wants to earn some extra money but not share their home all the time
• sublet or rent a room in a house-share full-time during the term, if the rent is low enough
I'm very flexible, just want to minimise the commuting cost by not having to stay in hotels whenever I'm in Durham. But ideal would be a pro-rata arrangement, based on the nights I actually stay.

About me: I'm a climate/sustainability economist working in research/higher education. I'm clean and quiet, and in my spare time I enjoy cooking, Muay Thai, literature etc. I don't mind pets in general, but I am sadly allergic to cats.

PS: Preferred location is Durham, but Newcastle or somewhere else easily commutable is also fine.
PPS: We have a spare bedroom in our London flat, so an occasional room-swap would also be an option.
