Description
Hello! I am looking for accommodation from the summer, primarily in the Southwest London area (most ideally within 15 min. walking distance to Clapham Junction, Richmond, Earlsfield, Wimbledon, Balham, or Tooting Stations) --but am staying open minded with the right transport connections.
I am casually looking for a sociable (but not party) house with flatmates who I get on well with.
As per my current contract conditions, I ideally would like to move in early July or later -- if you have something coming up that could be a good fit (or something just a tad earlier), please do let me know, because I'm really wanting to find the right fit rather than rush.
💰 I'd ideally like to spend within around £650-850/month including bills, but am willing to go a tad higher for the right fit. I’m looking for a place to call “home.”
🇺🇸 I'm from the US and came to the UK nearly 4 years ago for my MA (Education, International Development, & Social Justice) at St Mary's University in Twickenham. I now work hybrid with a job in New Malden pertaining to refugee education.
🌍 In a flatmate, I value respectful and clear communication. I like to work together to keep clean (happy to have a rota or 'everyone clean something today' styles) and socialize, but also understand that we're living together and life happens. Alone time to decompress is sometimes equally important, but I'd really like to become friends with the people I live with. I'm keen to spend time with flatmates (so it would be great if there's a lounge/living room) with through chill activities like cooking or watching something together, or going out together for dinner or a drink (or pub quiz!), even if it's fortnightly or monthly.
💃 My interests include dance, reading (widely), East Asian calligraphy, and languages (I speak 7!). I've also recently taken up boxing (for fitness) and used to do a bit of tai chi. I'm an animal lover (in case you have any).
I've worked as everything from a Japanese interpreter to a dance fitness instructor. I've additionally lived in Japan, Bangladesh, Tanzania, and Taiwan. I've traveled pretty extensively in Asia and am working my way around Europe as well. Also, pubs have been one of my favorite aspects of British culture.
🏠I work hybrid (usually 3-4 days WFH) and so give preference to a room in which I can fit a desk for when I work from home (I prefer to work from my room). I'm looking for a double-bed and at least space enough to lay a yoga mat, as well as sufficient luggage storage (if not in the room then elsewhere in the home). I prefer a toilet-flatmate ratio of at least 1:2 and would love it if there was either garden access or a nearby park.
Other details...
Languages: Engilsh (native), Japanese (fluent), Spanish (upper intermediate), Mandarin Chinese (intermediate), Swahili, Bengali, and Korean (conversational)
While I am not either, I'm LGBTQ+ friendly and happy to eat vegetarian. I'm open to respectful guests staying over (within reason) and an occasional gathering/shindig. Open to live-in landlords as well as flatmates.
📩 Feel free to message me if you have an opening in your place (or if you’re “gathering” people in the same situation to rent together) and if you'd like me to provide you any more information. I'd love to see if we're a good match!
