Artsy northman (26) & professional Civil Engineer

I’m James, a professional Railway Engineer who has lived in London since 2014. I moved here from my hometown in Greater Manchester to complete my Masters in Civil Engineering at UCL.

I’m passionate about my work and I take every opportunity to travel. I have lived, studied, and worked abroad. I completed my third year of studies in Perth, Australia, and post-graduation I lived in Canada to work a ski season in the mountain village of Whistler.

My top 3 hobbies include:

Food and drink – Prior to my professional life I served in many hospitality venues which meant I developed an appreciation for incredible food and beverage as well as a good service culture. I love making coffees and cocktails for myself and others as much as I enjoy finding new places to try them. I’m known to be an impressive home cook and enjoy experimenting with new recipes as well as cooking for others. As a vegetarian I cook mostly vegetarian and vegan food.

Music and musical theatre - I play several brass instruments and actively support the music and arts industry. I’ve seen 100+ shows on the West End and have many friends working in theatre who I love to go see and support.

Health and well-being – I strive to maintain good physical and mental health as well as supporting others. Sports I enjoy include running, gyming, cycling, tennis, hiking, skiing, and kitesurfing.

I have shared houses with all males and all females. I’m sure those I lived with would say I’m caring and considerate, clean and tidy, but mostly an all-round fun-loving quirky individual to hang out with.

I am searching for a new homelife in a sociable house of 3 or more working professionals who perhaps have similar interests to me.

I have moved home back to Manchester to give me ample time to find the best group of people in the right home for me to move to.
