Description
Hi there! Abdullah here. I'm a full-time professional with an office-based role--as Digital Assessment Lead in a team reimagining school examinations--at Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
I'm currently living on Rustat Road, and am searching for a long-term let in CB1/CB2, ideally one that is a quick bike ride away from my office on Shaftesbury Road (CB2 8EA), which is just south of the train station.
My main concerns are the location and an en-suite room. I'd prefer a studio flat or a flatshare with one or two other people, but open to an HMO as well.
I work at the office five days a week. I don't own a car and don't plan on buying one anytime soon, so parking isn't a concern, but secure storage for my bike would be nice. I don't smoke either.
As the photo showing my airbnb reviews indicates, I'm pretty low-key, will respect any house rules and will practively do my share of any shared household duties/chores. Flatmates who'll either consider paying an additional shared monthly fee for a cleaner for the common spaces or are willing to divvy up communal responsibilities will be a plus.
A bit of background about myself:
I'm originally from Islamabad, Pakistan, but I've pursued both my undergrad and postgrad degrees in the US, at Haverford College and Harvard University respectively. I'm passionate about educational equity, and have worked in education research and programme management for over a decade. I also work out and run fairly regularly.
I was a big sports fan during my 20s and used to religiously follow the premier league, tennis, the NBA and the NFL. I've now watered down my viewing habits because of the time commitment, but still try to make time during the weekend. Flatmates who also happen to be sports fans and up for watching sports together will be a bonus.
In terms of compatibility with housemates, I wanted to proactively flag that I sometimes go on early morning runs or for workout sessions, at around 530 or 6 AM. And while I try to be as quiet as possible, do keep in mind that I may use the shower or flush at that time. If that's likely to disturb the sleep of the other housemate(s), I may not be a good fit.
Also interested in buddying up for a two-bedroom or three-bedroom flat. Please note that beyond a few days earlier, I'm not flexible with my given move-in date.
