PhD Student Looking for a Room!

Hi there!

I'm Miguel, I'm 28 and currently doing PhD (DPhil) in Philosophy at the University of Oxford. After almost two years in Oxford, I've noticed I really miss the big city (lived in Mexico, Berlin and Munich before coming to the UK), hence my decision to move.

I'm very easy-going; usually spend some time studying and working in my room or in the library. However, I do try my best to have a life outside Uni by engaging in by biggest non-academic interests: music and dancing.
I played a lot of music as a kid and teenager, mostly rock and metal, and mostly electric guitar, but in the past years I've gotten more interested in bass and drums. Sadly, I've had to make a pause from playing music, since I don't have any instruments with me. I hope to take drumming and percussions lessons in London, *but you wouldn't have to worry about the noise because I won't have any instruments at home ;) *

More recently, I've been enjoying music by going to bars with live music, concerts and dancing. My current favorite genres are Latin Jazz and Latin American music. I am also a very big Salsa and Bachata enthusiast so I try to go dancing several times a week, if I have the time :)

Coming back to nerdy stuff: one of my biggest intellectual interests is languages. I speak German, English, French and Spanish, and would like to learn a few others if I ever find the time. My other major interest is, of course, philosophy. I find problems in the philosophy of logic and the philosophy of language particularly exciting. I would be happy to tell you a bit more about them. I promise to try not to put you to sleep. (No guarantee for success)

I have a lot of experience living in flatshares. Before coming to the UK I lived in Berlin (6 months) and Munich (2.5 years), where I've had very nice flatsharing experiences. I am very open and like to spend time with my flatmates. I enjoy getting to know them and learning a bit about their lives. Of course, we don't have to be best friends. The main thing is that we have a friendly relationship. If everything goes well, we can do something together. At the end of the day, I'll be new to the city, so I'm totally looking forward to meeting new people!
