Room wanted in Sheffield/Barnsley area

Hi. I'm looking for some help.
I just came to the UK for work from Poland.
I paid someone for a room and been scammed.
I start a job on Monday but till my first wages in couple weeks of time I won't be able to pay upfront. When I get my wages I'll pay everything back and carry on paying upfront as normal + pay deposit. I've got nowhere to go and been sleeping on streets last two nights. I can provide some references from previous landlords that I'm good honest guy. Always paid my rent on time and got deposit back. I'm in a little situation and don't know what to do to be honest so thought I'll give it a shot in here.
