Description
Hi folks, my name is Solo (they/he). My landlord just sent an eviction notice for my current flat (they want their family to move in) and I have until the 29th of August to move out.
I'm looking for a place to live, with lease starting in August (though I could start mid-late July if needed), for at least the next year but possibly up to 3 years. My rent budget is £650pcm, but I'm trying to find places around £500. I'd like to be in a furnished flat near the University of Edinburgh's central campus, ideally around Bruntsfield, Morningside or Fountainbridge, though I'm looking outside of that range too.
I don't really have any preferences for potential flatmates but, since I'm a non-binary/transmasc, I do need flatmates to be cool with that and ideally LGBTQ+ friendly. I'm 22 and have been living in Edinburgh for four years, but will be going into my 3rd year of Classics and Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh this September. As I have council tax exemption, i would prefer not to pay but that is negotiable, depending on how much it is, as I like to be as helpful as I can.
On top of being a student I also have a job as a care professional, so I'll often be out of the flat at work or university during term time. I am part of multiple university societies, volunteer at a university book collection, do kickboxing, and have a lot of hobbies, so even when at home I tend to be pretty busy. But I do love meeting new people, and am quite sociable and prone to long yap sessions.
I'm used to being in flats where everyone does their own thing and keeps to themselves, but is friendly and helpful, and I am happy and comfortable with going into a similar situation. However, I'd also be happy with more communal living (meal-sharing, movie nights, etc), if that's what flatmates prefer.
I'm not a clubber (though love a bar/pub) and I don't go out late often. I also very rarely host parties (for my birthday I usually have a game night or random thing rather than an actual house party). However, I absolutely don't mind others in the flat having parties and don't have a problem with noise. I always make sure I'm pulling my weight around the flat with chores, cleaning and restocking things, and whilst I'm used to a flat where everyone chips in whenever, I'd also be happy in a flat with a rota/system.
