24yo professional looking for short-term room

Hi! I'm a 24-year-old professional working in Nottingham, looking for a furnished room from around September/October until December 2026.

I currently work full-time as a Deputy Manager in a Learning Disabilities Children's Home, working Monday–Friday, 9–5. I'm responsible, reliable and respectful, and I'm looking for somewhere comfortable and friendly to live for the final few months of the year.

The reason I'm only looking for a short-term arrangement is that I'm travelling around Southeast Asia from 3rd January 2027 until May 2027. I'll be moving back in with my parents before Christmas, so I'm specifically looking for somewhere to bridge the gap until then.

I'm currently paying £590 a month, so I'm hoping to find somewhere a little cheaper and put the difference towards my travel savings before I go. I'm ideally looking for somewhere around £400–£500 pcm, preferably with bills included, although I'm flexible for the right place.

A little about me

I'm clean, tidy, easy-going and considerate of the people I live with. I'm sociable and enjoy having a chat with housemates, but I'm also very respectful of people's personal space and routines. I'm good at reading social cues and wouldn't want to be the person who constantly imposes themselves on the rest of the house!

I'm completely teetotal and don't smoke or vape.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, hiking, being out in nature, mindfulness, running, and watching films and TV. I'm generally quite relaxed and enjoy a good balance between being sociable and having my own time.

I'm happy living with pretty much anyone, as long as everyone is easy-going, respectful, reasonable and communicates well.

Pets

I'm completely happy living with pets and have no problem with animals in the house.

I do have a hamster called Debbie who would need to be able to stay in my room. She's very clean and doesn't smell at all — honestly, you'd probably never know she's there!

Other things

I have a car, so I'd need either driveway parking or reasonable on-street parking.

I'm ideally looking for a double room or a room with a double bed, and somewhere that feels comfortable rather than just somewhere to sleep.

I'm in a relationship, and my girlfriend would occasionally stay over — probably around two nights a week on average, although sometimes less depending on our work schedules and when I'm staying at hers. We're both respectful of the fact that it's someone else's home, and I'm very happy to discuss what's comfortable regarding guests.

I'm open to living with couples, families, professionals or other housemates — the main thing for me is finding a friendly, respectful and comfortable household.
