I am Martha. I am 24 and looking to move to Manchester at some point before the end of the year. Since leaving university, where I studied Archaeology & Anthropology, I have been living with my parents in Windsor, close to London, and working full-time in my local Marks & Spencer, both in the cafe as a barista and on the clothing floor. My aim was to save enough money to enable me to leave home with a financial buffer which would more than support a move and my first year in a new city. Now that I have achieved that, I am actively looking for a room in a shared house or flat.

A bit about me. When I am not making coffee for impatient customers or measuring people for new bras, I like to follow women’s football and am an active fan of Arsenal Women (which I hope isn’t a deal-breaker for you!). I plan to attend Manchester City and United matches once I move up. I also like music, going to gigs, film, books and cooking. I am a dab hand at jigsaws.

I am friendly, and looking forward to meeting new people in Manchester, but am also perfectly happy in my own company. People probably consider me to be a bit on the quiet side but I warm up once I get to know them. I am reasonably neat and tidy, without being obsessive about it, and I am very respectful of personal space.

Marks & Spencer have told me that they would be happy to facilitate a transfer to a Manchester branch. But, to be honest, I would rather get a completely new job once I'm up there, which is one of the reasons why I've put aside decent savings. However, I do appreciate that some landlords will require me to have a job in place, so the transfer is my option if that is the case.

I am very excited at the prospect of moving to a new place, and I've worked very hard to put myself in a position to be able to do that. If needs be, I can come up to Manchester to take a look at flats in person and have a chat, but I'm also perfectly happy to do that via a video call.
