Looking for a room for me and my cat

Hello! My name is Magpie and I use they/them pronouns. I'm an American investigating universities in the UK. I'm easygoing and friendly, and I'd love to be able to talk and hang out with my roommates. I'm about to begin studying at the University of Sussex, and I'm specifically looking for someplace as close as possible to the 25/25X bus line so I can get to campus easily.

I'm partially disabled, so I may not be able to do my share of the chores, but I'll keep my space clean, and I'm willing to cover more of the rent to make up for what I can't do in the shared areas. Or maybe I can pay for a housekeeper - we can discuss.

Since I'm moving from abroad, I know I might need to get a UK guarantor or pay several months of the rent up front. One or the other of those should be possible -- I'm not sure which yet.

I have a cat who's very friendly, so if we end up rooming together, you're welcome to pet her. She's a completely indoor cat, and very well behaved.

I'm looking for a room that's already furnished. Ideally it would be on the ground floor, or if it's in a flat rather than a house, then maybe in a building with a lift. I'd like roommates I can talk with - I'm a bit of a nerd, and love to chat about sci-fi/fantasy, philosophy, and creative hobbies.

I'm happy either to take a room in an existing house, or to find someplace together with you, although since I won't receive my student visa for a while, I might need to lean on my roommates for the house-hunting process, or do it from overseas, but I'm okay with either -- we can talk about that if you don't have a place already set up.
