Looking for a 1-bedroom apartment or a room

I’m Julia, and I’m looking for a long-term rental, either a one-bedroom apartment or a room in a shared house/flat with one or two flatmates. Location within Cambridge is flexible, and my budget is around £1000 pcm. My preferred move-in date would be after Christmas or in early January, but these are flexible dates that can be discussed further if necessary.

I’m 31 years old and will be starting a new job as a postdoctoral scientist in January. I’m originally from Poland, but for the past seven years I’ve been living in southern Germany. Although Germany has been home for a long time, I’m ready for a change of environment (quite literally, as I currently live in a city in the Black Forest) and to begin a new chapter in Cambridge.

I’ll be working full-time, and since I’m a very active and outdoorsy person, I’ll be spending plenty of time outside exploring nature. I enjoy hiking, cycling, running, and trying out new sports in general. I also love cooking in the evenings and growing my own vegetables and herbs. A balcony or garden access would be a big plus, as I’d love to start a small gardening project in the spring!

I treat my home as a place to recharge and feel comfortable, so I always make an effort to keep it cosy, clean, and welcoming.

I’ve shared apartments throughout my 20s (most recently for four years with a wonderful flatmate), and I’d love to live with others who also treat their home with care and enjoy a cup of tea or a friendly chat in the evenings. I’m looking for flatmates who are professionals, respectful, and open-minded. It’s very important for me to share a home with people who value honest communication and a friendly atmosphere. I’m well past my house party phase, so I’d get along best with others who feel the same. As a flatmate, I’m easygoing and considerate: happy to share the occasional meal or drink, but always respectful of others’ privacy and space.
