Description
Hi, I’m Xenia!
I grew up in London, but moved to the Netherlands when I was 18 to study engineering, and somehow ended up staying there for 9 years (with a half year in Norway and a half year in Austria, in between).
I finally moved back to London in mid-November 2025 because I got an incredible job opportunity.
Even though I grew up here and have a small social circle, I kind of feel new to the city again, so want to live with others in order to expand my circle of friends.
I am looking for housemates who would like the idea of eating together a couple of times a week if our schedules align (though no pressure of course), going out for drinks at a bar (or at home on the sofa!) every now and then, or doing other random activities together on weekends like sports or attending events in the city. But I obviously respect the fact that we also have our own lives to lead and own friendship circles, too. I’d want to feel that I am able to invite friends over every now and then for dinner for example, and would like to get to know your friends, too. I also find it super important to live in a clean house, and to decide together on how to inject some personality into communal areas with art prints/plants/decorations. All of the above is what I had in my most recent home, where I lived on a houseboat in Amsterdam with two great guys who became fast friends, so I want to recreate that homey feeling I had there.
Regarding what I’m like as a housemate: So far I’ve been going to the office every day, but in time I will probably start working from home 1-2 times a week. Before I started working, I lived in an active student house of thirteen(!) for five years and then a year in a house of four, so I’m pretty confident I have a good understanding of what it takes to live with others, and being respectful of each other’s needs. I used to be found going out a lot during my student time and still love a trip to the pub, but I’ve become a bit of a grandma during the week, going to bed around 10-11, though I do still really enjoy going out dancing once in a blue moon ☺️. I speak Dutch and German and like to think I’m really open-minded.
In terms of hobbies, I enjoy drawing and painting, visiting museums, going to concerts, and trying out all different kinds of sports; from taekwondo and rugby, to yoga and skiing — I spent a season working in an Austrian ski resort after graduating university, which was an insane amount of fun. At the moment I’m only doing fitness/gym training because of having just moved, but I would like to find some sort of sports club here. I also like cooking good, healthy food and baking on weekends (and I have no allergies in case that’s important).
Also, I am fortunate enough to be staying with family until I find my own place, so I am flexible with the move-in date.
If it sounds like I might be a nice addition to your house, I’d love to plan in a chat to learn more about you and your interests, and see if it’s a match!
Hopefully till soon,
Xenia
