Description
I'm a 36-year-old trans writer and researcher who'll start a PhD in English Literature soon. Originally from Antwerp, Belgium, I’ve lived in Berlin, Amsterdam and London. I speak four languages so happy to have a mixture of cultures and languages present in the house ;) I also have a very cute (very cuddly) cat called Ella, after Miss Fitzgerald. She’s seven years old, so no sneaky unruly kitten behaviour or anything.
As I’m a fiction writer as well as editor/translator and a total fan of art house cinema, gardening and cycling around London, I'm preferably looking for flatmates who work in the creative industry or do sth with arts and culture (but this isn't a hard preference :).
Not sure what to read these days? I can supply ALL the reading tips and can of course lend out some books from my extensive library! I’ve always been an avid cyclist who loves nature/animals so I'm hoping for a place that has either a garden or some access to the outside, something my cat will also appreciate. In one past life, I used to be a visual artist (painter); in another, an art journalist and theatre critic.
I’m clean and organised, very tidy (like a true Virgo, haha) and usually go to a co-working space during the day to write. However, I also very much enjoy cooking (healthy) food together or just watching a movie or something. As I’ve said, my cat is super sweet and without hyperbole the most affectionate cat I know, so if you love cat cuddles then she, too, will make a great housemate :)
Currently, I’m finishing the manuscript of my debut manuscript BOUND, a literary fiction novel about familial love, loneliness and the connection between our bodies and technology. Working on this project (and my upcoming PhD in narrative empathy for nonhuman characters, animal or landscape) brings me lots of joy, as does reading a new exciting author, hiking, boxing, cooking, dancing. I’m used to a house share where people are very friendly with each other but also lead their own lives—balancing out the social component in a natural, easy-going manner.
If this all sounds good, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
