German exchange student looking for a shared flat

Hello and “Guten Tag” from Germany! 😊

My name is Nele, I’m 21 years old and currently studying at the University of Leipzig. I am doing a teacher training degree in Education, Psychology, History and German to become a secondary school teacher for History and German.

In a few weeks I will finish my Bachelor’s degree and in September I will start my Master’s programme. As part of this, I was accepted for an Erasmus exchange (for five months with possibility of extension) at the University of Edinburgh — something I am incredibly excited about!

I chose Scotland because I have been fascinated by the country since I was a child: the beautiful landscapes, the traditions and music, and especially the history. I already wrote my thesis about Scottish history and I hope to deepen my knowledge during my stay in Edinburgh for my future research and final exams.

About me as a flatmate: I would describe myself as clean, tidy, respectful and reliable. I value privacy and personal space and I completely understand if everyone prefers a calm and independent living situation. At the same time, I am also very open-minded and would love to spend time together occasionally if the flatmates are interested — whether that’s going for a drink, cooking together, visiting museums, hiking, jogging or exploring the city.

I already have a lot of experience with shared living. Over the years I have lived with a host family, with one male roommate, in a flat with four girls, and through travelling a lot I am also very used to sharing spaces in hostels and mixed dorms. Because of this, I adapt quickly and always try to create a comfortable and respectful atmosphere for everyone.

I would be very happy to hear from you and hopefully become part of your flat during my time in Edinburgh!
