Description
Hello! My name is Valentín (they/them/theirs) and I am a 34-year old Queer, Salvadoran-American, visual artist, and photographer moving to London in September for postgrad @ UCL. I’m looking to integrate myself alongside other likeminded Queer community whilst pursuing my studies in Conservation at UCL’s Institute of Archaeology. Depending on how my studies go, I plan to be in London anywhere from 1-3 years, with the possibility of staying longer should I secure employment.
Budget & Zone: £600-900 pcm. I will be studying at the Bloomsbury campus, so Zones 1-2 are ideal so that my commute is 1 hour or less each way.
Things I like to do:
Museum and gallery hopping; historic sightseeing
Picnics & outdoor hangs/long walks when the weather is nice; as simple as grabbing a coffee or snack and walking around
Holing up in a cozy cafe to draw
Cycling, hiking, film photography, painting, thrifting, ceramics
Attending and supporting pop-up events– especially trans and queer– music, theater, socials, art markets, and kink.
Some important things you should know about me:
I have a small, 10 year-old dog, Mariposa, who will be moving abroad with me. She is very sweet, friendly, and affectionate and can have bursts of energy. She mostly lies on the couch these days but loves going to the dog park, gets along with most cats and dogs, and is a social butterfly.
I am sober, coming on 6 years in August. I sometimes smoke cigarettes, but am fine with others who socially drink or smoke cigs/420 (as long as these are not done inside the flat). If you are also sober, let’s chat! I’d love living in a sober household.
I practice collective care and resistance as a principle, especially with fellow trans, BIPOC, and immigrant communities. I believe we serve our communities best.
How I show up as a flatmate/let’s see if we are a good fit):
I am a mindful individual in common spaces, in terms of noise, cleanliness, and general care of our shared space. I am looking for the same – a home where I can unwind from what’s sure to be a bustling life transition.
I would love to have rapport with my flatmate(s) but don’t expect us to be joined at the hip. With flatmates, I love cooking together, having a craft night, or just banter on the couch. I value autonomy, alone time, and straight-forward communication of our needs and wants.
I sometimes have friends over but always give a heads-up in advance, especially if the intended use is common space. I tend to only have 1-1 time with a friend, as I prefer smaller groups. I am looking for a similar vibe in the flat; no large gatherings unless discussed in advance and that won’t affect my studies. On that note, would prefer sober hangs at the flat or very little alcohol consumption/total clean of the flat afterwards.
Rent & bills are always paid on time!
