Description
Hi! I'm a PhD candidate (2nd year, English Literature) at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, coming to King's College London for a 6 month visiting research attachment with the English department. I'm looking for a room for the duration of my stay.
NB: I prefer a place where the landlord doesn't live on-site
📅 Dates: September 2026 – February 2027 (5–6 months)
💰 Budget: £900–1,200 pcm, bills & council tax included. Happy to pay monthly or quarterly in advance — I'm a fully funded PhD scholar, so rent reliability won't be an issue.
🏡 What I need:
A room with my own private bathroom — this is my one must-have
Nearby access to a swimming pool and a library would be a big plus (I swim daily and read/write for a living!)
Good heating for winter, and a balcony would be lovely (somewhere to dry laundry)
No strict need to be super central — anywhere within ~40 minutes' commute of central London works, since I'll only need to head in occasionally for supervision meetings.
🙋♀️ A bit about me:
Quiet, tidy, and respectful of shared space — happy to take turns on communal cleaning
Early nights, no late-night noise — I keep a fairly studious routine (lots of reading and writing!)
Not much of a cook these days, but I'll occasionally make a sandwich or a simple salad — happy to have a kitchen without heavy daily cooking smells, though I don't mind if you cook (just easier if it's not something very pungent every day)
Weekend explorer — I like the occasional day out and trying new food
I'll be heading off to Ireland (or possibly elsewhere in Europe) for another 5–6 month exchange after this, so this really is a self-contained half-year stay
Enjoy a mix of shows — Succession (huge fan), Big Little Lies, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and a few others — always open to recommendations
Not really a gamer, but I loved playing It Takes Two — open to a casual co-op game night if that's your thing too!
🤝 Looking for a flatmate/household who is:
Quiet and has good boundaries — student or working professional both totally fine
Doesn't bring guests to stay over
Considerate about shared spaces
I'm easy to reach and happy to hop on a video call before viewing. Bonus points if you're near a nice indoor pool! 😊 Female flatmates/households preferred.
Feel free to message me — looking forward to hearing from you!
