Mature student looking for a home in Manchester

Hi! I'm Jacob, I'm 28 and I'm moving to Manchester from East Anglia this September to start an undergraduate degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Salford.

I'm looking for a double room in a friendly house or flat, ideally somewhere around Salford, Deansgate or within easy reach of Manchester city centre and the university. I'm hoping to move during the first week of September and, as my course is three years, I'd love to find somewhere I can properly settle rather than just somewhere to stay temporarily.

A little about me: I've lived independently since I was 17, including with housemates and partners, so I'm very used to sharing a home. I'm relaxed, friendly and sociable, tidy and respectful of where I live, and conscious of other people's space and routines. I'd love to live with people I can get to know, have a chat with and occasionally do things together, while still having our own lives and respecting each other's downtime.

My interests are pretty wide-ranging. I love cooking, getting outdoors, hiking, sports and yoga, as well as socialising, pub quizzes, art galleries, cinema and films. I'll be completely new to Manchester, so I'm excited to explore the city and make it feel like home.

I'm not looking for a party house, but equally I don't want to live somewhere where everyone disappears into their bedrooms! A relaxed, welcoming home with a good balance of being sociable and independent would be ideal. I'm also very happy living with pets.

I'll be a full-time student, but I'll also be working alongside my studies. My rent will be reliably covered through my student maintenance funding, and I can provide a UK guarantor and proof of my full-time student status if required.
