Description
Hi, I'm a 26 y/o woman starting my master's degree in City Planning at the University of Glasgow this September. I've actually already identified where I want to live, and was hoping to find 2 other female students around my age to live there with me! The place is Martha Street Apartments by Abodus Student Living--it's a nice new student accommodation just outside the city center near the east cluster of unis and only a few mins walk to Buchanan Street Station.
I'm planning to book a room in a 3-bed flat there, but instead of choosing a room (and potential roommates) randomly, I'm hoping to buddy-up on here first so I can know my flatmates in advance and then we can all book in the same flat! I'm looking at the regular ensuite option, £179/week (£775/month) for floors 1-10 [or could alternatively do £197/week (£850) for floors 11-16]. The unit shares a kitchen and each bedroom has its own ensuite.
Since it's student accom, all bills are included. They also offer £1,200 cashback when you book, so keep in mind that that will effectively lower the weekly rental cost a bit more! The move-in date on the contracts for this building starts Sep 5, though I'm personally planning to arrive a bit later on Sep 10. My program is 12 months so this would be for a full year (51-week contract).
And now details about me:
I'm just now turning 27 at the end of August. I did my bachelor's degrees in English and History in the U. S. where I'm from, but I studied abroad in Dublin and also lived in Australia for a year (last year), so I love living abroad. I hope to stay in Scotland, or at least somewhere in Europe, on a skilled worker visa after I finish my master's degree.
Probably the most important thing about me in terms of roommates is that I'm super organized and tidy; I looove an organized spice drawer and am pretty easy to please as long as everyone does their share and cleans up after themselves. :) I'm also pretty quiet (no loud music or anything) and expect to be very busy with my grad program, but when I do have free time I love a movie or game night in, or a cocktail bar or pub quiz out. I also love hanging out at cafes, going to cultural events, and cats (I'll miss mine from home, so always down for a cat cafe).
