Description
I'm JJ (they/them), 32, nb trans masc, leftist, canadian, moving to London from Vancouver BC on the youth mobility scheme visa for 2-3 years (ideally more if it goes well!)
I'm arriving in London October 20th and am looking for a short term sublet (around 1 month) while i confirm where I'll be working. If the place and location is right I'll eventually be looking for longer term.
I'm a former counsellor and conflict resolution practitioner, with a background in the feminist anti-violence movement and transformative/restorative justice. I currently drive little ferry boats around one of vancouver's inner harbours.
I care really deeply about the world and about justice, and am in a lifelong relationship with existential wondering that sometimes takes the form of existential dread. But I also am irreverent and light hearted, love a laugh and don't take myself too seriously.
In a home dynamic i value harmony, warmth, and cooperation above all.
I'm open to lots of different roommate dynamics because I don't think these things can be forced. I'd love to become great friends with who I live with but will also happily be just great flatmates. At minimum, I hope to find a home that is kind, warm, and welcoming, and I want to be able to chat and debrief at the end of the day, get to know each other over time, and be comfortable sharing common spaces, while not taking it personally or reading into it when people want alone time.
As for me, I'm very social and plan to build friendships and community by getting involved in various activities and extra curriculars. I hope to meet lots of people, build lifelong friendships, and spend lots of time exploring london.
I love to read, have a walk and a fancy pastry, try new places to eat, pick up new hobbies, go to the gym. At home I cycle for transport, sing in a choir, play in some queer sports leagues, and am getting more involved in municipal politics. Love to have friends over just to talk eat and relax. Will happily clean & join a choir rota.
I'm not a big partier but am down to throw down every once in a while. Love to go out but also like a quiet night in. Mornings are my favourite time, I like to have a quiet hour in the am to drink my coffee, read, maybe write or meditate. I'm a pretty flexible person and I think I'm a great flat mate! Happy to match the rhythms of a place while i'll be finding my footing. If this sounds good lets talk more to see if I'd be a good fit.
