Hi there, I'm Caroline, 37, looking for a new shared place to move into in London. I have some flexibility around the move date, but ideally would be looking to move some time between the middle of September and mid-October (ideally before 12th October but there's some flexibility). I'm available to attend viewings most weeknight evenings.
I'm looking for a double room with a decent amount of space as I have quite a lot of books and other stuff. Definitely enough space for a bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe, small desk (sorry, have seen too many rooms with no space for much more than a bed!). My preference is for an unfurnished room as I own a bed, wardrobe, shelves etc. My budget would be less for a furnished place as I would have to put some items into storage.
I've lived in south London for a long time and would love to stay south of the river but open to other areas too. A reasonable and reliable commute to Whitechapel is a really important consideration for me - ideally no more than 45 minutes.
Definitely looking for somewhere with a relaxed vibe that isn't noisy - my job can be pretty intense and for me home is somewhere to decompress and relax. I tend to socialise outside of the house rather than have friends come round. I don't have guests very often but always let flatmates know in advance. I'm fairly quiet and value alone time, but I also prefer to live somewhere where flatmates are happy to chat, watch TV together, share meals occasionally, and so on. I love a pub quiz! I've become great friends with people I've shared places with over the years. Extra points for places with a cleaning rota - a joyless concept but I've always found it's been a good way to share chores fairly.
I'm open to sharing with mixed gender households but don't want to be the only woman in the house. LGBT-friendly share is a must as I'm queer myself. Prefer to share with people aged 30+. No big HMOs please - maximum of three other tenants.
My budget is up to £1000pcm, including bills.
I work full time as a radiographer in a Central London hospital - typically my work pattern is Monday to Friday but I also do some evening, weekend & night shifts. Generally no more than two nights per month in my current role, and I always give flatmates a heads up in advance when I'll be on nights and therefore sleeping during the day afterwards. I don't work from home at all.
Outside of work I enjoy yoga, running, exploring old and interesting places in London (I'm a qualified tour guide though sadly don't have much time to do it these days), watching cricket (I spend a lot of time at Lord's and the Oval during the summer) and football (Dulwich Hamlet, Preston North End when they're in town), visiting museums and galleries, and finding nice coffee shops to hang out in. I'm originally from Lancashire but have lived in London since 2011.
