Hello there! 👋
I'm Stella, a 30-somethin' woman, recently relocated back to the UK after spending some time in the Netherlands to pursue masters-level studies. I'm searching for a place where I can feel at home, as I "find my feet" again in Bristol - the city where I've previously spent almost a decade through my 20's, and kind of fell in love with! 👣
I am a "professional", though currently in-between professions. I studied environmental psychology (that's a bit of a 'niche' subject - basically, applying psychological science to environmental issues) so am now mainly looking for purposeful work in a non-profit, governmental organisation, or the like! 🌱
*Note*: the fact that I am currently unemployed does not mean that a landlord can automatically discard me; in fact, that would count as (unlawful) rental discrimination, so let's catch them out!
When I do get a job, I'd hope to work in a hybrid format, with 1 or 2 days at home, so this needs to be possible in the house; happy to find a solution that works for everyone (such as alternating days, etc.).💻 I am also training to be a yoga teacher, and would be happy to share some at home, too (i. e., free yoga classes if you want to play downward facing guinea pig). 🪷 I don't mind a cozy bedroom, but I would then appreciate use of extra bit of space for doing desk work, yoga practice and such. I am respectful of communal spaces and do not leave my crap lying around! ✔️
My budget is only an indication, depending on what it is I am renting, of course! I currently receive jobseekers allowance, aiming to earn 28-32k to begin with. 💸 Can provide references and guarantor. Looking to move in ideally on or around July 1st, or July 13th at the very latest, though I can also move in as early as June 1st! 📅
This is all the basic info. If it suits in principle, then please read on for a bit more about me. You'll notice that conciseness is not my strongest suit, but hopefully by the end of this short essay you will have an idea of whether I could be a good fit! 💡
*A BIT MORE ABOUT ME*
I define myself as a "sociable introvert": I crave connection and am active in my social circles, but I then need to retreat to my own self. I tend to do this at home, so I treat it as my sanctuary. I do enjoy a chill home environment and I'm considerate and respectful of another's personal space and need for rest, and I'd hope for you to be the same. However, this does not mean I'm anti-social! I like hanging out, sharing a cuppa, supper or a glass of vino. I do also like to invite a friend over every now and then, but I tend to do most my socialising outside the house.
🐣 Me at home (and out and about 🐥)
I enjoy cooking, curling up with a cup of tea, practising yoga, reading a book, starting small creative projects which I never get to finish, and taking care of plants! I also do have plenty of hobbies outside the house. Bristol has a lot to offer in this respect! I sing with a choir and occasionally go out dancing to some good ol' swing & blues. I have a bike, and have been enjoying taking it out on a ride on warmer days. I am a lover of swimming in the wild, but that's very seasonal, though I can do an ice bath, but only after the sauna!
👯♀️ Me as a flatmate
I can respect another person's space, though am also someone who likes good company and hope to offer and receive a balance of both. I don't shy away from an honest conversation about feelings, but I don't take myself too seriously and can also be a bit foolish at times (and, hopefully, somewhat entertaining). Expect excellent puns and terrible dad jokes. I am quite organised, so you can rest assured that I will keep it clean and tidy. I do appreciate reciprocity in this, though I won't come chasing after you with a dish brush if you leave your used cup of tea next to the sink - in fact, I'll likely wash it myself or stick it in the dishwasher if there is one. Ideally, I'd like to share my home with someone who cares about sustainability. Though I don't define as a vegetarian, I tend to "eat food, not too much, mostly plants" (Michael Pollan). As such, I would not have an issue with a vegetarian house - I can keep meat as an occasional treat to be consumed elsewhere. When I cook, I will share! Not much of a baker but I will eat cake if you make any...
🧠 Me as a human
I'm definitely neuro-spicy so an openminded attitude towards neurodivergence is key. I am also LGBTQIA+ friendly, and define as bi-curious myself. With me, no need to worry about acting "normal". What's normality, anyway? I very much live in a happy eco-chamber of social progressivism, and you can just be as you are around me (and my friends, too). As long as you're a decent human and act according to your best intentions, that's all that matters to me - really.
📩 If that sounds like a good match potentially, feel free to message me and we can talk further.
⏰️ Available to move on/around July 1st (and by July 12th latest); but also available from June 1st if the opportunity arises!
