Description
*TDLR: my landlord is selling and I'm looking for a short (2-3 month min) or ideally long term let. I have to move out at the end of October but could sign a lease a little earlier if needed. I'd rather hear from other tenants not landlords, unless you're an *intentionally ethical* one. It's a long-ish ad but please read the whole thing before messaging - thanks!
Hello, I'm Ru 👋🏽 I'm 37, currently working in events for a university, usually WFH 2-3 days a week (varies throughout the year) and am occasionally out for work during evenings and weekends. I’m looking for:
📄 Ideally after a long-term contract, ideally with reliable option to extend providing it’s a good match for all, but also open to short-term/sublets.
📍Would prefer somewhere NE/E, open to considering other areas. Would like a quiet neighbourhood over than someplace busy/noisy. Budget is around £850 all in.
🛌 Looking for a double room with space for a permanent desk. Preferably unfurnished or part furnished/fully furnished if it's a short let.
🏠 I'd really like a kitchen that can accommodate more than just one person (as in not ant-sized) and comes with a dishwasher. A shared living room with space to store books would be great. Walking distance from a green space would also be lovely.
👩👦👦 Sharing with 1-3 others, either in an existing flat share or buddying up. I would like to live with women and/or non-binary folks aged 27+. Ideally you would have some sort of routine - mine is usually 9-5ish but yours doesn't have to be the same. Very happy to live with cats (I'm a v good cat sitter!) or a very calm dog.
🥕 I'm not vegan or vegetarian and would prefer to avoid food restrictions unless it's allergy-related. I like to cook (success rate vary) and would be happy to cook/shop communally, if that works for us.
Personality-wise, I'm pretty independent, organised (ish), and on the quiet/introverted side. I like a fair amount of alone time, though I enjoy a good cackle and hope to be good friends with whomever I share a home with. I like going to the farmers market, cooking (success rate varies), walking, fancy ceramics, and zoning out in front of the tv. I’m queer and my values are firmly to the left , as in pro palestine, pro trans rights, up the workers etc.
What I’m *not* looking for:
❌ We wouldn't be a great match if you take a lax approach to cleaning/organising. I'm keen to be on the same page when it comes to keeping our home clean and tidying up after ourselves, as well how we 'manage' the household, e. g. bills, repairs etc and deciding on how to make the place look/feel nice (which would hopefully be a fun thing to do together).
❌ I'm not a fan of clutter or disorganised spaces, so I'd really value living with others who also prefer an organised environment.
❌ I tend to gravitate towards quieter/calmer homes as I'd struggle with chaotic extrovert energy, e. g. house parties, frequent unannounced guests etc.
❌ I would prefer to not live with men or couples. I'd also prefer to not live with landlords, unless you're an intentionally ethical one (the rarest of breeds).
If this aligns with what you're looking for, pls drop me a line with some info about you and what you're looking for! I’d really like to avoid the grim audition/interview (even if it's a short let), so it would be great if we could have a proper chat over tea/coffee/your beverage of choice :)
