NO AGENTS OR LIVE-OUT LANDLORDS
*****************************************
Hi!
I'm looking for a lovely home with some nice people and low rent – quite a bit of flexibility in the other details!
Location-wise, my preferences are Sheffield, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, but I’m possibly open to some other places. I lived in London for over 15 years and in 2024 moved to Lancaster. I’m now thinking I’d like to move somewhere a bit bigger, so here I am! I’m also hoping to find somewhere quite communal, with people with some shared politics and interests, and somewhere homely rather than feeling temporary. A housing co-op would be the dream but I can probably keep tolerating private rental if I have some nice housemate comrades :-)
Timewise, I'm not in a rush. The place and the people are the important bits.
A few things I like: hiking/scrambling/climbing and other active stuff; interesting, strange, enlivening films/performances/stories; eclectic, leftfield music; wildness/nature; spicey food, sour things, rhubarb crumble; my campervan and my bike; nice company. I like being with people but I'm usually one of the quieter people in groups, particularly in groups that are bigger or new to me. I currently drink very rarely and haven’t done anything else for years.
Political things: I'm far left, aiming for anarchistic, communistic, anti-racist/patriarchal/ableist. I've given quite a bit of solidarity in renters unions in London and Lancaster, and in some Palestine stuff, and I try to be in solidarity in friendships/relationships etc. I try to live more sustainably. I mostly eat vegetarian, vegan or pescatarian food but sometimes eat meat when cooked by others. I’m fairly straight but questioning/learning/unlearning, and non-monogamous. For money, I work freelance part-time in book publishing. I'm hoping to move to something else at some point and am currently trying to do some learning/reading.
In terms of sharing a home, I'm a friendly, laid-back person who’s considerate of other people’s needs. I like where I’m living to be a relaxed place where I can get on with the people I live with and sometimes share a meal or watch a film etc. I like house meetings to make sure everything’s going ok. I like my home to be clean and tidy but not obsessively so. I’m a bit practical.
That’s probably enough isn’t it?! If I sound like someone you’d like to live with, get in touch :-)
