Description
Hello!
I'm Collin, a psychotherapist living in London since 2017 when I moved here from the US. And that's my dog Caspar, a 5 year old corgi. We've been living just the two of us for the last few years but are looking for a flatshare now so I can save some money over the next couple years to buy a place of our own and so I have some extra space in my schedule to work on my professional writing.
As for some personal stuff about me: during the week since I need to be well rested for my work I'm pretty relaxed, I love films and listening to a good record. I also read a lot of really boring, niche academic books and I'm trying to strengthen my writing practice to someday hopefully contribute a boring chapter to one myself! I recently submitted a paper analyzing a Japanese film for a conference in Korea, which at the very least sounds pretty cool, no? More than anything however I love a good chat, whether it's deep and meaningful or absolute rubbish, I appreciate both.
On the weekends I go out with friends for drinks and gigs and the occasional late night of dancing poorly in a dark room. I also like going to see art on Saturday and Sunday daytimes to pretend I'm really smart and cultured. And I know everyone says this but I also love to travel and I go away several times a year, sometimes for up to a month. Currently I'm studying Japanese in my spare time to try and dig deeper into a place I love visiting.
As for the more logistical stuff: I have my own private practice that I work out of four days a week, though I do have a few hours during the week where I do remote sessions so I'd need a place where I could have the privacy to do those. Caspar is an extremely friendly, extremely cuddly dog, surely in the top 1% for both categories. Everywhere I've lived people in the local area come to know him because of how friendly he is (being a corgi also helps tbf). He's lived with flatmates before, and while he does love attention and being with humans he's fine being on his own too, and he's fortunately not a barker. I leave him on his own when I go to work and have a network of people who love him to look after him, so no responsibility needed on your part! As he's a corgi he does shed of course, but I have a fancy robo hoover that does an excellent job managing it. Because of Caspar I'd need a place with a garden and/or close to a park. Other than that rigid location preference as long as I have relatively good access to Liverpool Street, though east and south/east London are more my vibe (I've lived in Hackney my entire time in London but have friends all over).
Although I've lived solo (with Caspar) for the last few years the fifteen years or so prior were flatshares, so I'm well acquainted with them. I'm clean and tidy but not obsessive, as long as common spaces are well kept I'm easy going. I have my own social networks in London and have my own things going on but I do miss the sort of ambient being around others of living in a flatshare, which I also lack in my profession since I don't work in an office with coworkers. I'd like to live with people who have their own independent lives but also want to be part of a home and are down to hang out, listen to music, watch a film, chat shit etc on occasion.
I'm currently on a rolling monthly contract so am flexible for dates. If you feel like we may be a good fit, give me a shout!
