Description

We have a double room to rent in our lovely village home. We're a British/Chilean couple, who have travelled extensively internationally, so we're very at ease with and interested in other cultures. We have two dogs, a Corgi and a Retriever; both are medium sized, well behaved and very friendly. The dogs are kept to certain areas downstairs and love playing in the garden.

The bedroom is of a good size (3. 30m by 5. 26m) with fitted wardrobes, plenty of storage and work space, and its own en suite shower room. The room is south facing, with plenty of sunlight, and looks out over the glorious garden (38m x 43m), which has mature trees along the boundary with a country lane, that leads up to the village church. Pavenham is the quintessential English village!

In the room there is a double bed, chest of drawers, bedside table, desk and chair. It would be possible to have a Sky TV connection in the room. The floor has a neutral beige wool carpet.

The en-suite has a wash basin, toilet and walk-in shower. The floor is tiled.

On the ground floor there is a living kitchen, which has just been refurbished to a very high standard to create a very contemporary space overlooking the garden. The space includes a television area (housing a 50" screen, the latest Sonos technology and a Sky TV connection), dining area and kitchen area. Two sets of double doors open out onto the garden.

The kitchen area has very high standard appliances: two slide and hide Neff ovens, a five zone Neff induction hob, two bowl sink, large Samsung French style fridge/freezer with ice maker and a second Siemens fridge/freezer, Bosch dishwasher, Panasonic combination/microwave oven and plenty of fitted units. If you are into cooking, we probably have pretty much all the kit you could want.

In the utility room you'll find an energy efficient AEG washing machine and tumble dryer and a second double sink.

There is a sitting room (which overlooks the front of the house) and study, which house our extensive book collection. (We're just completing the refurbishment of this space.) There's a second television in the sitting room. The sitting room and upstairs are kept dog free. We also have an inner and outer hall, where you will find the downstairs loo, and a further bedroom, study and house bathroom on the first floor. These, like our bedroom and the study area on the ground floor, are kept for our sole use.

We also have wi-fi broadband and oil-fired central heating throughout the property.

The house is kept clean and tidy. [An ironing service can also be provided, though this is by separate negotiation with our cleaner.]

Off street parking is available for one or two cars. The village is less than six miles from central Bedford and about 20 minutes by car from Cranfield and 30 minutes by car from Milton Keynes. Central London is 35 minutes by train from Bedford station. Cambridge is less than an hour's drive away. [The village is beautiful, very quiet and well located for Bedford, Cranfield, London, Milton Keynes, Northampton etc., but the bus service is infrequent. For example, to get to Cranfield there are two buses in the morning one leaving at 07. 29 and arriving at 08. 39, the other leaving at 08. 20 and arriving at 09. 42. The last return bus from Cranfield leaves at 16. 19 and arrives at 18. 12.]

We're fairly sociable but we entirely recognise that our lodgers need their own space, and often come with priorities around work and/or study. We endeavour to ensure that the domestic environment is conducive to that. One of us works from home, whilst the other commutes into central London.

Please note that the rate indicated above (£550 per month) is for single occupation for periods of more than three months. Where the lodgers are a couple, the rate is £700 per month for periods of more than three months. For periods of 13 weeks or less, the rate is £175 per week for single occupation and £225 per week for double occupation. The deposit for a couple is £700.

[By separate negotiation, but only for shorter stays, we may also be able to provide a daily or occasional cooked evening meal.]

Please don't bother to apply if you have either an alcohol or drug dependency, as it simply wouldn't work. There aren't too many "rules" as we're very laid back, but sadly experience tells us that this has to be one.
