Age UK Reading runs a Homeshare Scheme where we match an elderly person with a spare room, and a person who is looking for affordable housing. You would also be expected to offer 10 hours per week to support the Homeshare. The 10 hours a week would include mainly companionship along with taking Barny the dog for local walks.

An active gentleman of 90 years old would particularly enjoy companionship. He is a driver and a sociable, friendly laid back individual. Since he has lived alone this past few years he has learnt to cook and enjoys trying new recipes. He would welcome a sharer who would take his dog for a walk four days a week and spend some time in the week eating a meal or watching TV together.
His house is located in the beautiful location of Purley on Thames and is close to a regular bus route. It has the Thames path if you enjoy walks and is also not far from Tilehurst train station.

We also have another opportunity in Earley. A lady of 83 would particularly enjoy company in the evenings. She already has an active lifestyle in the day enjoying walking, yoga, socialising and playing bridge. She has local family and is a car driver. She is keen to have overnight security in the house and would sometimes enjoy eating a meal with a sharer, playing cards or watching a film. She has a beautiful detached four bedroomed home with a view of her large garden from the sharers bedroom. The house is located in Earley on a regular bus route.

We are looking for a sharer who has 10 spare hours a week to give in return for affordable accommodation. Only £200 pcm plus a contribution towards bills.
We are looking for a mature, kind, responsible individual and as an organisation we would carry out reference checks and an enhanced DBS check prior to introducing you to the Householder.
