Hi! We are two easy going professionals looking for a friendly new housemate (please no couples or smokers) to move into a large first floor room of our shared house in place of our current housemate who is moving out into an apartment that he just bought. The room is definitely available from the 1st of April and
It may be possible to move in a bit earlier than April 2025 depending on how quickly the old housemate can move into his new place.
The house is a modern, three-bedroom Victorian terraced house with a large bathroom with a free-standing roll-top bathtub and shower, modern kitchen with dishwasher, separate dining room, comfy lounge with leather sofas and TV and a nice rear garden for sunny days as well as a place to store bikes. It is located in Reading town centre - a five minute walk to the Oracle shopping centre and 15 minutes to Reading station and with quick connection to the M4 for commuting. Roadside permit parking is typically reliably available close to the house (costs a bit extra directly to the council).
The available room is a bright and large room with an easy-to-use square shape, high ceilings and two large windows. It is furnished with a bed, one large and one small wardrobe, a bookshelf, a wall-mounted mirror and a wicker chair (the remaining furniture on photos belongs to the current occupant). The room also has a built-in storage cupboard and a decorative fireplace. As you can see in the photos, there is plenty of space for additional furniture such as a desk for working from home.
The monthly rent will be £613 plus currently £195 for bills. We rent the house together from the landlord and each pay an equal share of the bills, which include council tax (band C), energy, water, TV license, 200mb broadband (probably to be upgraded to 900mb soon), bi-weekly cleaning of communal areas and communal consumables - toilet roll, washing powder and the like.
The deposit for the room is £500 and is safely held by the letting agent of the landlord in a standard deposit protection scheme.
The house is in very good condition, well maintained and we treat it like a home. If you are looking for something in central Reading that is less busy and with more personal and shared space than an HMO, then this is the room for you.
