Double Room Near Uni - Shared Eco/Veg Household

We have an extended 4/5 bedroom end terrace Victorian house on the east side of Reading. Currently I live as an empty-nester with one of my offspring away at University, who may be home occasionally and during long vacations.

We have Room1 (Yellow Room) on the ground floor of the house which has a comfy sofa bed, old school desk, chair, storage seat, chest of drawers, and hanging space for clothes. Free standing TV also available.

There is a ground floor WC next to Room1 and a shared bathroom (shared with occupants but not live-in landlady) on the first floor, small utility room (with washing machine and tumble dryer), a lounge and very large kitchen/diner - which opens out through triple bifold doors to a small and nicely kept garden - with seating and rotary clothes dryer on the small lawn area.

Room2 (Blue Room) is a large double bedroom on the first floor, with wall mounted TV and ‘relax corner’ with 2 easy chairs and a small table. Also chest of drawers, clothes hanging space, shelving and desk with chair.

Household dynamics vary as my work means I may be at home, or located elsewhere.

Room1 on the ground floor is booked until end June 2026, after which it may be available for short-term (days/weeks) or medium to longer-term rental considered, depending on circumstances.

Room2 is available for longer-term for the right person/dynamic, but is booked from until at least August 2026 by a PhD student.

There is permit street parking available (the cost of which can spread monthly via the rental amount). Please note that the council requires the vehicle to be registered at the permit address in Reading.

We tend to come and go on our own schedules and often cook independently. I am eco-conscious, like upcycling, outdoor walks, music and comedy. I am vegan and would prefer vegan/veggie housemates (both current occupants are). My Uni son is not but he (and adult kids, who v. occasionally visit) prepare their meals mindful of my preferences. The mood in the house is generally quiet, relaxed and stress-free.

May suit a mature student on a placement/PhD or a professional who needs a place to stay a few days a week on ad hoc or regular basis. Open to discussion on this!
