I'm looking for a housemate who is clean, tidy, independent and relaxed to move in from 1st March.
For me the best atmosphere to live in is when both of us have our own independent social lives as well as catching up and sharing the house together. I think living in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere is just as important as having your own space and doing our own thing.
It's really important to me that the person moving in loves living in a very clean and tidy house, and is very happy to help me keep it that way. I'm not obsessive, but keeping the house really clean and clutter-free (especially keeping a super clean kitchen) is a big one for me. This is a dealbreaker so please think about whether this fits with how you like to live.
If you're in a relationship and likely to have someone over very often, it's also not the right setup.
Not suitable if working from home 5 days a week, but workable if 2-3 days (I have a great office wiry incredible views that we'd have shared access to - as well as the sun room and the lounge).
Looking for long-term lodger, ideally for a year or longer, but we could start with a three-four month trial to check we're both happy with how it's going.
The room:
A spacious double fully furnished with double bed (with generous storage underneath), wardrobe, chest of drawers, and bedside table.
Room overlooks front garden, and is next to the first floor bathroom which will essentially be yours (I have an ensuite that I use upstairs).
About the house:
I've spent two years doing the house up - new kitchen and 2 bathrooms, and 'knocking through' so that the incredible views can be appreciated throughout the whole house.
It has amazing panoramic views across the city to the North, East and South. It sits on top of a huge green slope - the biggest allotments in the city (St. Werburgh's) which is buzzing with wildlife, especially in Spring and Summer. It feels like you're in the countryside (especially when you hear the goats, sheep and chickens in the morning from the City Farm just below), yet it's really central and a great city location.
Between the front and back gardens, we have summer sun right through the day until about 630pm. The back garden is a real sun trap and a great spot for morning coffee. In the winter, the 'sun room'/ dining room is another top breakfast spot.
The living room is renovated with a very cosy woodburner for winter evenings.
We'd have shared access to the office/ spare bedroom, the living room and kitchen, the dining room/ sun room, the 2 gardens with a small bike shed, and you'd have access to the middle bathroom mostly to yourself.
The area:
There's a bus stop and a scooter station right outside the Cul De Sac to get you quickly into the city centre.
We're smack bang between St. Andrews' and St. Werburghs'.
The Farm Pub (one of the best beer gardens in Bristol) is just at the bottom of the hill - a couple of minutes' walk, and a great local to have.
The Lazy Dog is another brilliant local, with great Sunday roasts, less than 10 minutes walk away.
In St. Werburgh's (again just a few minutes walk, below the house) there are restaurants, pubs and cafes.
There's a Coop just a couple of minutes away, and Gloucester Road (the most vibrant road in the city, with a huge range of pubs, restaurants and shops) is 10 minutes walk away.
I absolutely love the location and think it's the best of both worlds - open and green whilst central and well connected.
A bit about me:
I'm a single guy in my mid 30s. I work in wildlife film-making and love to travel. I swim in the sea as often as I can and really enjoy getting out of the city and into nature. I also love being in the city - I like eating out with mates in Bristol and going to events at weekends. And I'm very often up for chilling at home with a film and a takeaway.
