Description

Are you looking for a home rather than an ordinary houseshare?

We're two friends in St Paul's looking for a third housemate to join us. Ed owns the house so it's a loved home filled with quirky art and personality near to Portland Square, Stokes Croft and easy reach of the centre. Oh, and there's Eris, a gorgeous (if sometimes a little bit naughty!) cat.

For rent is a good sized double roon with a large built in wardrobe. Currently partly furnished with a bed and bedside table. Rent is £750 which includes all bills (electricity, broadband, council tax, cleaner, water, sewerage & TV licence - about £170 each total in bills pcm). There's all the amenities - a shower room, bath, dishwasher, washing machine. Also included in the bills are all consumables in the house (dishwasher and wm tablets, washing up things, toilet roll, cleaning products etc)...we use green/recycled products. The house itself runs on 100% green energy (from roof-based solar generation and green energy from grid)

The room is available from the start of 29 June 2024 and there are no fees. Minimum stay 6 months but ideally looking for someone to stay longer (1 year+).

About the house
It's a spacious Victorian terraced house on three floors in a superb location. The first floor has a lounge with big windows, a massive corner sofa and our projector set-up for films and series (it's also a sofa bed for friends to stay). There's also a bathroom with walk in shower and toilet as well as a bedroom (The room available).

On the lower ground floor is a big kitchen with dining table that leads straight onto the garden (with sun loungers, a BBQ and seating area and vegetable planters). The garden is looking tonnes better than in the old photo pictured however a keen gardener would certainly be a good addition to the house! Also on the ground floor is a storage room for kitchen/ life overspill, more freezer and storage space.

Top floor has two further bedrooms (Ed's room & Emma's room) and another bathroom with a bath which any bath lovers are free to use whenever they like.

There's unallocated parking, permits are £112 a year. It's not the most stunning road, unlike our Montpelier neighbours just a few streets along, but the house is so lovely you don't really notice. It is quite a lively road however there is a strong sense of community here.

About us
We're 40 & 43, have been living together for 6 or so months. It's a social house, we love people popping over for a cuppa, we know each other's mates and like to have dinners, BBQs and drinks. The same would go for your friends too. We used to throw the occasional big shindig, especially for St Paul's Carnival, but it's not a party house. Just a happily friendly one. Emma is an ESL teacher and Ed works in the green sector.

We both love films, music, cooking shared meals, catching up on our lives, planning house and garden improvements and fussing over the cat. We used to go out for food, drinks to the theatre and the park together and with our friends too. We've got our own interests and social circles as well (which we can't wait to get back to) so the house is a balance of doing your own thing, chatting all about it over dinner and downtime.

About you
If you're looking for a place to call home and housemate who will be friends then this is for you. You'll probably like some of: good food, live music, art, film, theatre, interesting conversation, long walks, pub afternoons, being left-wing & green-inclined and many other random stuff besides. You won't be someone whose entire time at home is spent in their room or is never at home at all - we choose to be three because it's more fun that way. We really do value the social aspect of shared living so please be aware that this is a priority for us.

Bonus points if you're green-fingered....Ed is a keen gardener but with the joys of MS what he can achieve sometimes is slightly limited!

So, if this sounds like your kind of place then send a message telling us a bit about you and what you're looking for and any questions you have. We look forward to hearing from you!

PS - in person viewings only, apologies!
