Description
I’m looking for someone to share my large flat in Bristol. It’s a slightly unusual setup: I have my own bedroom, bathroom and lounge, while the space available to rent is on the other side of the flat and includes two large rooms and your own bathroom.
We’d share the kitchen but essentially have our own separate “wings” of the flat. Imagine a C shape, your space would be one side, mine the other with the kitchen in the middle. It gives us plenty of privacy and our own space, while still having the option of a bit of company when we fancy it.
What you do with your two rooms is entirely up to you. The second room could be your own lounge, home office, spare room, creative space, dressing room… anything you like!
The rent
£980 per month, including all bills and shared items
That includes:
• Council tax (we are Band E - gulp!)
• Gas and electric
• Water
• TV licence
• Fibre broadband
• All subscriptions: Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, WOW Presents and Apple TV
• Shared essentials such as milk, butter, oil, condiments, spices, cleaning products, cling film, foil, food bags etc. Basically, everything except laundry products and loo roll!
The kitchen is tiny, so I try not to duplicate things we don’t need, although I’m always open to new gadgets if there’s room for them!
Your space
You’d have:
• Two large, light-filled double rooms, both with big windows
• Your own bathroom, with a bath and separate shower
The flat
• Top-floor apartment in a gorgeous Grade II listed building
• Important caveat: six flights of stairs (three double staircases!). Great for the glutes, less so when carrying shopping or furniture!
• Small, basic kitchen with limited storage. It has all the essentials; dishwasher, washing machine, air fryer, kettle, microwave, cookware, Nutribullet etc. - but if you’re a serious cook who dreams of a six-ring hob and an island, then I’m afraid this isn’t the flat for you.
• No tumble dryer
• No bike storage
• On-street parking is available with a paid permit.
The location
Victoria Square is essentially your front garden, and it’s particularly gorgeous in the summer.
You’re right on the doorstep of Clifton Village, with its lovely cafés, bars, shops and restaurants.
Approximate walking times:
• 10 minutes to Clifton Triangle / Park Street
• 20 minutes to the city centre
• 5 minutes to Clifton Suspension Bridge
• 15 minutes to Ashton Court and The Downs
So there are plenty of opportunities for walks, food, drinks and pretending you’re the sort of person who regularly goes for a “brisk stroll”.
A bit about me
I’m in my early 40s and work for a charity supporting victims of crime to communicate with their offenders through restorative justice. I mostly work from home, although I do head into the office from time to time.
To balance out the heavy stuff at work, I love food, festivals, drag, gigs, comedy, pub quizzes and unapologetically terrible reality TV. My friends are my family and I see them as much as possible. My family are in Cornwall, so I regularly head there to escape the city. I also reluctantly work out regularly to offset the amount I eat!
Who I’m looking for
Ideally, I’m looking for a slightly older lady who is looking for a home rather than a party pad. I like the odd glass of wine and a good night out, but I am waaay past my party years, so I’d love someone similarly minded when it comes to noise and very late nights.
I’m very clean and tidy, and because the kitchen is so small, things need to be cleaned away fairly quickly.
I’d love to be friendly with whoever moves in, have a natter, perhaps share a meal or a glass of wine occasionally, but I’m equally respectful of having our own lives and needing our own space.
The details
• Available from 1st November but an earlier move-in date could be negotiated if required. (Earliest would be 18/19 October)
• Female preferred
• LGBT+ safe and very welcome
• No students
• No couples
• Ideally 35+
If this sounds like it could be a good fit, I’d love to hear from you.
