EDIT - the upstairs room, with the office and sink, has now been taken. The bigger downstairs bedroom is still available.
THE INTRO
Hello fellow SpareRoom-ers! My name is Lynden, and I am looking for 2 people to move into my spacious 3-person house on November 4th. We are in Easton, on Mivart Street just off the vibrant St Marks Road and around the corner from the Greenbank Pub. The house is a 5–10-minute walk from Eastville Park and 5 mins from Stapleton Road station for easy access to green space and the city. I’m not vegetarian or LGBTQ+ myself, but this is an inclusive home where all are welcome (though it's not a meat-free zone). Rent is £650 pcm and the tenancy is for 6 months, then rolling. Unfortunately, no pets are allowed.
THE HOUSE
The house is a good size, with a large living room perfect for chilling and having friends over. The kitchen is a little small, but it is perfectly fine for 3 people. There is one bathroom with a bath/shower. The communal areas are perfect for a house of 3, everything works, and, whilst the house isn’t the most modern, the landlords are going to be redecorating before anyone new moves in, so hopefully things will feel a little fresher.
As we are currently in a transition period here with people moving out etc, I am hoping that whoever moves in is happy to help me make this communal area a home. This would mean having an active role in re-organising the lounge, putting up art where you want, bringing music and generally bringing life to the living area. There will be a cleaning rota in place too, to ensure the communal areas are clean and tidy. Whilst we have not previously done house meals or game nights etc, I could be up for this to have a better connection with the incomers.
Ideally, we’d have a homey vibe where we can chill together, maybe watch a movie, play games, or just hang out in the evenings when it works for everyone. I’d love for us to have a home where people contribute to making it a comfortable, fun place to live.
THE ROOMS
The are 2 rooms on offer; one large bedroom with plenty of storage (room 1) and one smaller bedroom (room 2) that comes with a separate room, perfect for a WFH office (office room). There are bed frames in each bedroom and a table/desk in the office room, and several chests of drawers should you want them. Room 2 also has a sink in the corner. If any of the furniture isn’t needed, I can likely arrange removal at your expense, though we may need to split the cost depending on what the landlord agrees to.
ABOUT ME
I am a 29 year old man who’s interests include sport (I love watching and playing football, going to the gym, attempting to box, and will be actively trying new sports in the coming months), music (I don’t play anything or mix, but an avid listener and love a good gig or night out), general pubbing and (occasionally) clubbing, eating too much food and generally socialising. I lead an active work and social life, and I am often away with work 2/3/4 nights a week, which frees up space in the house. When I’m working from home, the house needs to be quiet during regular work hours. Outside of that, I enjoy socialising but like to keep the house as a relaxing space, so this definitely isn’t a party house. I am currently in the process of applying for new jobs outside of Bristol, though, and it is likely I will not be here beyond next spring.
The other tenant is moving in the same day as you. He’s 27, active, sociable, and also enjoys the gym. Like me, he’s looking to keep the house as a clean, peaceful space, particularly during weekdays, while still being up for occasional socializing and fun on weekends.
ABOUT YOU
I am quite chilled about who I live with, but there are some things I am looking for in a house mate. I am generally looking for people that are chill, clean, and that share some of the same interests as me. If we can have a beer on a Friday and watch some sports on the Saturday that’s a big plus. If you’re into music that also a plus. In a nutshell, if you’re easy to get on with, happy to do your share around the house, and good at communicating (which is key for happy house-sharing!), you’d fit right in.
Unfortunately, though, I am not looking to live with students, couples, or big party-people, and ideally, you’d be around my age or slightly older.
THE BORING STUFF
So rent is £650 pcm each, and bills come to around £100-150 each depending on the season. I’ll need someone to take over the responsibility for some bills, like internet, which can’t be in my name due to my potential move. Rent and bills need to be paid in advance of due dates, so any contributions that go through my account would need to be set up via direct debit. Deposit is 1 months rent. There is a 6-month minimum contract and then rolling after this. The tenancy starts on November 4th and this would be the move in date – you’re welcome to move in later, but this is when the rent is due, so you’d need to be able to pay from this date. The landlords are super chill and get things done quite quickly, and our neighbours are lovely. We are in council tax band A.
If you’re interested, and could be bothered to read this post, please drop me a message with a little about yourself.
