Room available in a social, communal home (Feb–Sep

We’re looking for the right person to join our lovely, lived-in home for a 7-month let (Feb–Sept) while one of our housemates is off travelling the world. You’d be sharing with four humans (Liv, Carl, Tom and Lu — a mix of academics, creatives and educators, all in our 20s–40s) and one cat, Lentil, who very much considers herself part of the household.

We live communally and intentionally. We share food costs, cook for each other, and eat together most evenings. Because of this, dinners are mostly vegan (though not everyone is!). We also share cleaning and general house care, and we’re hoping for someone who enjoys mucking in and looking after the space they live in.

This is a genuinely social home. As well as busy individual lives, we spend a lot of time together — playing games, doing group crafts, tackling the Sunday crossword, watching films on the projector, and generally hanging out in cosy, slightly chaotic ways. We’re a silly, spontaneous bunch and often find ourselves making things, dressing up in costumes for no particular reason, or inventing themed evenings on a whim.

The house is also a bit of a social hub. Expect shared meals, friends dropping by, dinners, drinks, gatherings and the occasional overnight guest. It’s friendly and welcoming rather than a full-on party house — though we do throw a party for special occasions.

Outside the house, we love getting out and about together too: arts and cultural events, music gigs, festivals, countryside walks, and generally saying yes to things that sound fun or interesting.

The room is a small double above the kitchen — not huge, but perfect for someone who’s happy making the most of generous communal spaces. We also have a garden where we grow vegetables in the summer, plus a hot tub that gets fired up for gatherings.

Rent is £420 per month, not including gas and electricity, which typically ranges from £20–£60 per month depending on the season.

We’re looking for someone social, considerate and community-minded — someone excited to be part of a shared home rather than just renting a room.
