Description
Open to professionals.
Two rooms available - one single unfurnished, one double part furnished - for two lodgers in a bright south-facing house a stone's throw away (almost literally) from St Mark's road and Stapleton road station, with The Greenbank pub and the marvelous Matter Wholefoods a few minutes in the opposite direction.
It's my sister's house but, as she lives in Portugal, I'd be acting as live-in landlord.
We'd be three in total and I would rather run it like a shared tenancy household: having only my room as private to myself, sharing the cleaning and the cost of perishable household goods like toilet roll and cleaning products, making trips to the recycling centre, etc.
If you're looking for a friendly place where you can share the occasional meal/movie/TV show/walk/pub trip, if you're responsible, mature and not a party head, if you keep fairly reasonable hours, if you like to shoot the breeze after a day at work and also like your own time, then this place could be for you.
The photos here show the house as kept by the current tenants, so much of what you see will change. There will be some furniture remaining and much will be taken. The dining table and chairs will stay. I will be moving in just before you, so initially it'll be a bit sparse with the aim to pad it out and decorate gradually.
There is a rear garden, approx 4x4.5 metres. The decking is being replaced, so I've held back on pictures.
There is a utility room that can be used to hang coats, stash bikes, store equipment, etc.
The bedrooms:
Single room - 1st floor, to rear of house.
Approx 4m x 2.8m, unfurnished.
The furniture you see in the pictures will be gone, including the bed. It might be that the wall shelves will remain.
Double room - loft.
Approx 3.65m x 4m, part furnished.
Furniture will include a double bed (seen in picture of 1st floor front bedroom), side table and chest of drawers. It is hard to get large items of furniture into this room due to its narrow access, so please only bring small, disassembled, or flat-pack items if you need to supplement. It does not currently have a door but is isolated due to its location. We intend to hang a door in the next few months and will provide a curtain in the meantime. One picture of the room shows evidence of damp on the wall. The issue has been fixed with cladding, and the superficial staining will be remedied with a paint job.
About me:
I'm a 49 year old cis male, friendly, creative, contemplative, with an interest in psychology and bodywork. I work in a secondary school for my sins and am aiming to gradually build my practice of shiatsu. I stay in much more than I used to (especially in winter!), but like a good dinner with friends, a nature excursion, a pub/cafe meet-up, gig, dance, singsong, festival here and there. I'd like to live in a pretty eco-friendly, shoes-off-slippers-on kind of household.
As I bike everywhere and don't drive, it would be great to find a lodger with a car for practical uses that serve the household.
