Description
Hello potential new housemate and friend!
We're Baiba (pronounced bye-bah) and Jorge (pronounced like George). Helena and Miranda (our housemates with the less complicated names) are moving out, so we're looking for two awesome people to take their place.
The rooms available are road facing, so probably not the best for light sleepers. Would suit well heavy sleepers or someone into earplugs or watching trucks go by. If you're more of a romantic, you'll be pleased to know you can also see the suspension bridge and watch sunsets from your bedroom window.
The house has it's quirks, the most noteworthy being the occasional slug venturing into our bathroom via unidentifiable entrance. Walls are not soundproof. Floors can be creaky. The house is by no means modern, but not old enough to have any ghosts. It has some pros as well which we feel far outweigh the cons:
- a cozy living room
- an extra living room which is used for yoga, clothes drying (we have a powerful dehumidifier), and bike storage
- lots of fridge and freezer space
- large sunny yard (no lawn, but we have a flowerbed full of strawberries)
- two loos
- excellent water pressure in the shower
- a bath
- attic for storage
- allocated parking space in front of the house
- wonderful housemates
During the lockdown our household became like a little family. Some housemates have changed, but the sense of community has remained. We have different schedules, but we do sometimes have food together, watch a film, have drinks and chats in the garden, go to cinema, gigs, gym, day trips and even holidays. We're looking for someone who'd fit in and be one of us rather than feeling like we have a lone lodger. Having said that, we're all introverts and appreciate people needing their me time to recharge. So when we get together it's more likely to be film nights, kitchen dances, and full moon bonfires rather than loud parties.
The financial and admin stuff...
The deposit is £412.50 and payable to secure the room.
The rent + bills (£412.5 + £125 = £537.50) payable on the moving day (or when receiving the keys if earlier).
While the monthly bills (council tax (band C), water, electricity, gas, broadband, loo roll) are £125.00 per person currently, this is a subject to change, depending on how much/little gas/electricity we're using as well as the rate changes.
The house is leased as a whole (works out cheaper), with one of the current housemates being a lead tenant. Your name will still be on the contract, but it's a contract for the house not just the room.
The landlord requires a reference of employer and previous landlord.
If that all sounds good, we're looking forward to your message and to get to know you.
