Description
I’m looking for a housemate to share a lovely semi-detached house with private garden in a quiet area of Cambridge, about a 15-minute walk from the station. The house has a surface area of about 70m2 with two bedrooms and a bathroom (shower-over-bath) on the first floor, and a large kitchen and living room on the ground floor. Outside the kitchen there's also a little conservatory with the washing machine and drying racks for hanging laundry. In front of the house there’s a driveway and a side gate to the private back garden, where bikes can be stored safely. The garden is one of the highlights for me. As you can see from the pictures, it even has a fig tree, veg patch and greenhouse.
Rent includes council tax, internet, water and energy (estimated cost). If the energy cost increases significantly after you move in, I will need to adjust the rent accordingly. I'm on a fixed tariff, so the cost would only increase if consumption increases. Broadband is unlimited fibre-to-the-premises with Zen Internet. For short stays (up to 3 months) the rent including bills is £900 per month to account for the overhead involved. In case of daily use of the driveway to park your car, I will need to increase the rent by £50 to make up for the lost JustPark income. I usually let out the driveway to decrease housing costs and buy household supplies.
As for me, I’m a 38yo female who just finished her PhD and is working from home as a freelancer while figuring out next steps. I’m clean and tidy, don’t smoke, rarely drink, and am quiet, considerate and easy-going. I enjoy social brunches and dinner parties, but can also go without talking to anyone for days if I'm immersed in a project or working on a tight deadline. I’m a reducetarian/flexivore and enjoy living with people who also care about reducing their environmental footprint. My interests/sports/hobbies include running, cycling, hiking, swimming, dancing, music, scifi/fantasy and improving my self-taught web development, automation and data science skills. Huge plus if you’re into free and open source software, open data, open science and/or open tech, and if you care about the future of humanity, global catastrophic risks, animal welfare, global inequality, SDGs and human rights. I love having deep conversations about any of these topics.
