Lovely double ensuite in family home

We are looking for someone to rent our spare room for a price well below market value, in exchange for helping us out with around 5-10 hours per week of childcare.

When messaging, PLEASE indicate that you are aware of the special terms under which this room is being offered, ie the requirement for some childcare in exchange for reduced rent. If you don't mention this I'm afraid we won't get back to you.

The room
A spacious, light double room with en suite on its own floor at the top of the house. Neutrally decorated with lovely views across the rooftops! Newly built in summer 2022, it has its own broadband hub, modern amenities in the en suite, and is furnished with a bed, bedside table, lamp, wardrobe with shelves, chair and desk.

The location
Emery Street is a quiet no-through road off Mill Road and we think the best place to live in Cambridge! The bustling restaurants and shops of Mill Road are just one minute away, but at our end of the street we mostly just hear birdsong from the wildlife haven that is Mill Road Cemetery, which is at the end of the road. It’s a beautiful tranquil spot right in the heart of the city, and something of a hidden gem. Cambridge station and the city centre are just 15 minutes' walk away, and Anglia Ruskin campus is less than 5 minutes.

Your housemates
You’ll be sharing the house with our family: we are professionals in our early 40s, and our two lovely and lively boys are 8 and 3. Our eldest goes to school a 10 minute walk away, and our youngest is at nursery a 20 minute walk away. We’re a vegan/veggie household and are ideally looking for someone who won’t eat meat in the house.

The deal
We’re offering our room at well below market value in exchange for some support with childcare. This will be for no more than 10 hours per week and will mostly involve taking one of the children to school/nursery in the morning and/or picking up at the end of the day. Once or twice a month we may ask you to babysit.

We’re looking for someone who likes children and will enjoy hanging out with us sometimes as a family, but who also has their own life. You’ll have privacy and peace in your room as its on its own at the top of the house. The living room, kitchen, dining room and garden will all be shared. We’d love to find someone who’d like to cook and eat with us sometimes, and occasionally join us to watch a film or share a glass of wine in the evening.
