Sociable group looking for a new housemate

- - About the room - -

We are a group of friends, most of who met by living in our five adjacent cottages and we are looking for someone to join us :) You will be sharing the house with Yunsy (engineer in language models) and Pei (plant breeder). In addition since we treat the five houses as one big house and we are very much a group, moving in would be joining all of us in our adventures!

• The room is available beginning of Jan 2025 (open to discussion)

• Rent is £567 pcm. Bills and council tax are additional (approximately £110-130 pcm). So it will be about £700 in total.

• The house is on the old side but has been refurbished throughout. We love our home very much. The other houses are charmingly derelict; quirky and characterful.

- - The property - -

• Though technically in Trumpington, the town centre is 15 minutes away at a leisurely cycle speed, the train station is even closer, we're just down the road from Addenbrooke's Hospital, the M11 is a 5 minute drive away and housemates commute all over the city every day. It’s a pretty convenient location.

• We have off-road parking, a green space with apple/plum trees and a hammock, and a garden where some of the housemates grow veg and pretty flowers.

• The kitchen has dishwasher, gas stove, and electric oven. Although it is small, we've managed to feed 30 people for our annual Christmas dinner plus regular potluck parties, so it can be done. We have a pantry where we proudly store all sort of shared cooking appliances.

- - The household - -

• Between the five houses there are ten people ranging from 23 to 35 in age with a range of sexual identities. In this household we are omnivorous and vegetarian.

• Other almost-housemates (in adjacent but technically separate houses) include an engineer, a hospital receptionist, an animal hospital nurse, a book cover designer, various scientists, PhD students in psychology and computer science, an archaeologist, and two very friendly cats. We're also quite international, with Welsh-Spanish, American, Taiwanese, Cambridge locals and a few amiable Londoners (past formations have included Canadian, South African, Australian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Italian, Scottish, French, Polish, Greek, German, Spanish, and US housemates). So a pretty varied bunch.

• We are a lot like a family; this means we really want to find someone who will be happy living here! We like to be quite social. People across the houses sometimes play games, watch films or tv, eat together, go for walks, play guitar/ukulele and sing, have fires, go swimming in the river and occasionally go on trips to places. We know no one is sociable all the time, but we'd like to find someone who would find that aspect a positive thing.

What we are looking for:

• Someone who is tidy, clean, and interested in joining in things.

• Straightforward! We can freely communicate with each other about anything :)
