Description
We are a group of friends, most of whom met by living in our five adjacent cottages and we are looking for someone to join us in our lovely cottage. Even though the opening is in one of the houses (with two housemates) we are very much a group, so moving in would be joining all of us in our adventures. Some details:
* The room is north facing on the first floor with a double bed, fitted cupboard, desk, bookshelves and a beautiful dressing table. The room faces the carpark & garden, so is relatively quiet compared to the other rooms that face the road.
* Rent is £416.66. Water, gas, internet, electricity, TV license and council tax bring the total we pay each month up to a total of £536.26.
-- The Property --
* The house is on the old side (built in the 1800s) and in a somewhat tumbledown condition. We all love its quirky character but it’s just something for you to be aware of.
* Each cottage has a living-dining area, ours is in the pictures, others have TVs, pianos, board games, and masses of comfy sofas.
* The kitchens are small, that is just a fact in the world. We've managed to feed 30 people out of them for our annual thanksgivingmas dinner, so it can be done.
* Our cottage also has a washer-dryer, a fridge freezer, gas hobs, oven, a microwave, and a bath/shower.
* There is an garden where we can lounge in hammocks by day and sit around the fire-bowl by night. There are also patches where we grow veg and flowers.
* Off-road bike/car parking is available.
* The town centre is 15 minutes away at a leisurely cycle speed, the train station is even closer. We're just down the road from Addenbrooke's Hospital, the M11 is a 5-minute drive away and housemates commute all over the city every day. It’s a pretty convenient location.
-- The Household --
* Your potential housemates are a hospital administrator who likes singing and playing the guitar and a phd student in marine ecology who likes climbing and crafts.
* Your ten almost-housemates (spread across the 4 adjacent but technically separate houses) would include PhD/Masters students, various scientists, an illustrator, a conservationist, a vet and Gateau & Willow, the two cats. We're quite international (past formations have included Bulgarian, Hungarian, Italian, Scottish, French, Polish, German, Greek, Spanish, and US housemates) and many of us are LGBTQ+.
* We have a fairly high proportion of vegetarians and your potential housemates are both vegetarians.
* We are a lot like a family; this means we really want to find someone who will be happy living here! We like to be quite social. People across the houses often eat together, go to the pub, play games, play music/sing, have fires, watch films, do sports, go swimming in the river and occasionally go on trips to places. It's not required to be social all the time, but we'd like to find someone who would find that aspect a positive thing. In that spirit, it's not first come first moving in.
-- What we are looking for --
* Someone who is nice, friendly, moderately tidy, and interested in joining in with things (not that it's mandatory, just some of the time).
If you've got this far and are still interested, send me a message with a bit about yourself and when you are free to see the property
(p. s. photos of the actual room will be added shortly, we forgot to take any, oops)
(p. p.s. I should specify the stylish scaffolding balcony in the photos is no longer a feature unfortunately, i just thought it was a cute pic)
