Sunny furnished single room on Chaucer Road

A furnished single room with wonderfully sunny views is available to rent on Chaucer Road from 1/2/2026. The location is excellent: around a 10-minute walk to town and 15 minutes to the station. Previous tenants have stayed in the flat for many years (some for over eight!), which we think says a lot about the place.

You would be sharing with five friendly young professionals (2 PhD students, 1 Master’s student, and 2 working professionals). At present, the household includes two women and three men, aged 24–31. Everyone is relaxed, considerate, and easy to live with.

A (non-exhaustive) list of shared interests includes: bake-offs (i. e., the banana bread competition of 2025), travelling, arts and crafts, photography, sport (rugby, kayaking, AFL), choir, music, and long chats over dinner or trips to the pub.

We’re looking for someone who would like to make this a home, rather than just a place to stay. We enjoy a friendly, social atmosphere with things like shared dinners, movie nights, and the occasional canoeing trip, but we’re also respectful of each other’s space as everyone has busy schedules. There’s absolutely no pressure to join everything, but we’d love someone who’s happy to be part of the household. We also have a chore rota, which everyone participates in to keep the house clean and pleasant.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone planning to stay at least six months, and preferably a year or longer.

We share a kitchen/living/dining room, and there are 2 bathrooms. There's also a beautiful large garden: the house backs onto the river and even has its own canoe! There's also covered bike storage.

Rent: £555 per month (includes council tax and water). Other bills are split between the six tenants and typically come to £50–£80 per month, depending on the season.

The room comes furnished with a single bed, desk, chair, wardrobe, bookshelf, cupboard, bedside table, chest of drawers, and mirror.
