AVAILABLE 1st November

***Please note this advert is for a room in a house with a live in landlord. The room is a double bedroom and includes shared use of all living areas including the living room, kitchen, bathrooms and garden. The room is available for 3 months but could be extended if we are a good fit. Rent including bills and council tax (band C) is £750 and is payable upfront along with a £700 deposit.***

About me: I work as a teacher. I love films, reading, art, writing, food, etc. The other occupants are my daughter who stays here 5 days a week and my cat. We have become a bit of a musical family since the lockdowns and are learning several instruments and love listening to music too :). I love learning about other languages and cultures; I am currently learning Spanish at lower intermediate level but I try not to be annoyingly loud whilst practising this! Health and fitness are important to me - I work out using an at home treadmill which you are welcome to use too. Also available to borrow if you want are weights/dumbbell/yoga mats etc. As you’ve probably guessed the living and dining spaces have several functions! :)

I also like to travel and visit family/friends so you will sometimes get the house to yourself.

I enjoy getting to know new people and will be happy to hang out for a chat over coffee/tea/food/occasionally a glass of wine. The shared spaces are free to hang out in at any time but at the same time I respect that some may prefer to keep to themselves more.

Having a compatible lifestyle/routine is quite important as there is a child in the house several days a week and the rooms upstairs are next to each other. My daughter stays with her Dad most weekend nights and the odd weekday night but is at home almost all week nights. For this reason noise upstairs needs to be kept to a minimum after 9pm during the weeknights. She’s asleep by 9pm and I try to go to bed by 10ish. It’s of course still fine to access the shared spaces after this time. Also, although we are careful to be very quiet in the mornings, we get up at 6.30/7am weekdays for work and school.

The above might be inconvenient for some so the room would probably suit someone who has a similar sleep schedule/working hours.

At the weekends things can be a lot more relaxed; for example if my daughter is at her Dad’s, I don’t mind noise in the late evenings/overnight guests etc.

The bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table, desk and shelving space. It’s fine to decorate it however you want as long as you are prepared to restore it to how it was prior to your moving in.

The living spaces are shared so you can hang out and watch TV in the living room/use the gym equipment, any appliances, etc. The laundry appliances are in a separate room next to the downstairs toilet. There is a garden but it’s a bit of a work in progress in terms of being a nice space to hang out. There is space to leave bikes outside and the back gate locks so they can be secure. I currently rent out the two parking spaces in the front drive but one can be made available to you for free if you have a car.

Lastly, about the local area: it is walking distance to town (via Castle Hill, across Jesus Green or via Elizabeth Way Roundabout), equal distance to both Central and North Railway stations, and round the corner from a bus stop. We have an Aldi close by as well as Co-ops, gyms, yoga studios and all the shops etc that town offers. We also have the lovely Stir cafe nearby. There are a few nice pubs in walking distance and more further afield as well as music venues, cinemas and a leisure complex. If you don’t know Cambridge well, I am happy to give you recommendations and directions to things.

I would love to hear more about you so if the above sounds like someone you could live with, please send me a message with some information about yourself; please also feel free to ask me any questions. I am looking to have someone move in as soon as possible.
