Description
I have a room to let in my house (Council Tax Band E) in Tenison Road from 7 September.
My house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one shared downstairs living room, and a good sized kitchen. The kitchen, which has wide patio doors opening onto the garden, is equipped with a fridge freezer, a gas hob, two electric ovens (one fan-assisted), a dishwasher, a washing machine, a kettle, a toaster, and a microwave. There is a large set of shared crockery, cutlery, glasses, saucepans and small kitchen utensils. The room to let is currently furnished with a comfortable full size double bed, a bedside table, a desk with shelves, a desk chair, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The house has a long garden, which is currently rather overgrown, and which is so dark and quiet at night that it does not feel like you are in the centre of a city. There is a back entrance to the garden along a path (unlit) entered through a lockable gate.
I moved to Cambridge in May 2022, having spent my entire working life up to now overseas, teaching English and related subjects at universities in Central Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. I have an Ethiopian husband, who is resident in Ethiopia but who hopes to move to the UK soon (he is the male person in the list of current flatmates), and two sons aged 26 and 29 who are currently working in New York and Toronto. So you can see that my family has rather an international outlook!
I am a calm, quiet and friendly person, who is happy to chat sometimes, but who also likes to spend time on her own. I am curious about the world and love learning new skills. I spend a lot of time at home, but I also love the outdoors. I aim to have a happy house where everybody in it feels at home.
I am searching for a housemate who is quiet, considerate, independent, and responsible. Ideally I would prefer a younger person, because I have spent my whole life working with young adults. In our house, we are all friendly with each other and chat when we meet in the shared living spaces, but otherwise we live our own independent lives.
If you think you might like to live with us, do please get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you!
