Description
Only available for short-term till 14 January for now, as an arrangement has fallen through. The monthly rent is £740 incl. all bills. If weekly basis, then £310 pw + one-off end of tenancy cleaning/ironing/bedmaking charge of £25
Delightful room with plenty of light. Furnished with small double bed, desk and chair facing window overlooking garden; wardrobe; a small bookshelf, bedside table and reading lamps.
In a beautifully presented Victorian house in the heart of Cambridge, 5 mins walk from the river, Bridge Street and Trinity Street, ideally located for departments in West Cambridge, Sidgwick Site or the city centre.
Purpose-specific shared spaces include:
Bathroom (heated towel rail, bath, over-panel shower, WC and wash basin; window overlooking garden, and stone-paved floor.
Dining space with large wooden table and chairs (open plan).
Spacious kitchen.
Large, beautiful garden with shed, patio and garden furniture.
Restricted use: Living room with stripped wooden floors, shared when landlady not working or entertaining there, or when we are both relaxing.
Loft room currently used as guest room. Can be rented for guests of lodger at a negotiated rate. One of my past lodgers fell in love with this room and decided to move into it. So I would consider renting it but storage space is very limited in the attic, and there is almost no hanging space. But I am happy to show it as an alternative.
I am looking for a professional, or doctoral or postdoctoral student, who ideally has a working space outside home (such as a lab or a department), but who wants a cosy centrally located home and is sociable and friendly, but not loud. I work from both home and Office, so I would not like loud music or parties. I have internet connection but no landline, so the lodger would need to have a mobile phone as I do. Electricity, gas central heating, water, broadband and council tax bills are all included.
I have only one bathroom, so it is important for me to have someone who is clean and considerate in their toilet habits. I keep my bathroom clean and inviting. The lodger will have a dedicated shelf for storing toiletries/bathroom essentials. Towel provided.
I have enough utensils and cutlery and crockery in the kitchen for the lodger to use and will make available a shelf for storage and one in the fridge. Storage space in is limited. It will suit someone who will find it helpful to use a fully furnished kitchen, and isn't looking to move a household.
One set of bedding and towels will be supplied but it is the lodger's responsibility to wash and clean them. If extra sheets and cases are needed, the lodger will be expected to provide these. Washer-dryer and dishwasher available for shared use.
Kitchen and kitchen implements to be shared but kept clean after use.
All common sense, really, but worth saying.
The most important thing is for you to see the room and the house, and for us both to think we will get on and the arrangement will work.
Additional details:
As I am resident in the house, I would prefer to commit to arrangements made in person after a viewing.
