Milton is close to Cambridge Science Park, St Johns Innovation Centre and Milton Country Park - and the Milton Park & Ride bus service is only a short walk away. The area is served by the new Cambridge North Train Station. Waterbeach and Ely lie to the north.

Milton has a large Tesco supermarket with a pharmacy and Costa coffee shop, Sketchleys dry cleaners, four pubs, Royal Mail post office, beauty salon, sports physio, tennis courts and a village recreation centre offering yoga, exercise and dance classes, etc.

The village has many parks and footpaths, several takeaways, a flower shop, convenience store (OneStop) and a sandwich bar, as well as numerous hairdressers, a barber, tailors and two bed & breakfast hotels.
